In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] Change picture of a related postWhat do you mean by “remove it from the template”? As I already mentioned, I specifically don’t want to use the Featured Image setting as it changes the visual appearance of the post.

In reply to: Related Posts showing wrong thumbnail imageHello, is anybody out there??
The problem is with both the related posts as well as the popular posts thumbnails on the sidebar. Both of them frequently pull another image from the middle of the post at random as the main image to show. Other times it pulls the first image in the post (which is the one I want it to post). But I don’t want to use the “featured image” feature because I don’t like the layout.
Please help!!

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] Change picture of a related postHello, xdaseinx, are you still there??
Sonia, did you ever get this issue resolved?
The related posts as well as popular posts are both pulling the wrong images. Sometimes the first image that’s posted is pulled (that’s the one I want it to post) but other times it pulls one from within the middle or end of the post.
Please help!

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] Change picture of a related postI’m having the same problem where the thumbnails on some related posts are showing an image from one of the pictures in the middle of my post.
For example: https://www.daringgourmet.com/2013/02/04/mongolian-beef/
Scroll down to the related posts. The images for the Chinese Orange Chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken are one of the “prep” instruction pictures, not the first/main image of the post. I don’t know what determines when the correct picture shows versus when the wrong one shows, I do everything the same way each time. When I add a new recipe post I insert a picture in the the very top, then start adding text and more pictures to follow. Most of the of time the thumbnails pull the very first picture. But in some instances, like the examples above, it randomly pulls from other ones from within the middle of the post.
I don’t want to use the featured image option either for the same reason Sonia gave.
Please help!
Thanks.

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] Wrong Thumbnail DisplayedHi, I have the latest version of the related posts plugin but am still having this problem. For example, check out the following page and scroll to the bottom to see the related posts:
https://www.daringgourmet.com/2013/02/04/mongolian-beef/
The Chinese Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken show pics from the “prep” process in the body of my post instead of the first picture of my post. I don’t know what determines when the correct image is shown versus when it is not – I do everything the same way each time.
Your help is very appreciated!
Jeremy, one last question: I noticed my W3 Cache plugin was deactivated in the process of updating the Jetpack so that it would connect again. Can I safely activate that or is it going to cause problems for my Jetpack?
Yes, I understand now. Thank you for clarifying this for me.
And thank you so much for solving my jetpack connection problem!Just the RSS widget that comes standard, I believe. Then I track the numbers with the feed statistics plugin. At wordpress.com I didn’t have to use that – my built in site stats automatically included those figures. Also, the jetpack follow blog widget that comes standard has the option of showing those numbers on my website. At wordpress.com those numbers included both email and rss feed subscribers. Now they only show email subscribers.
I had around 104 RSS feed subscribers before transferring that I had accrued in the two weeks my site was up at wordpress.com. But when I moved to self-hosting the feed statistics showed as “0”. I’ve since acquired 88 more this past week, so shouldn’t it show 192 now?
Yes! My email subscribers have all been moved and show up in my stats. THANK YOU!! The rss feed subscribers don’t show as having been transferred yet. I’ll wait the couple of hours and see what happens…
Actually, one more small thing if you’re able to address it: My number of subscribers now show as zero since the update (my site stats are also all at zero)even though I have quite a few. Is that something you can reset? I had lost all of my subscribers when moving from wordpress.com to self-hosted as well – can you move all of those? I had several email subscribers as well as rss feed subscribers, but everything showed as zero when I moved.
It’s working now as of 10 minutes before your reply. I received an email from Support saying they made an update and try connecting again. This time it finally worked! Not sure what the problem or solution ended up being, but at least things are finally back to working again. Thank you!
And thanks for the compliment, Jeremy ??
