Thanks for responding. The FAQs are helpful and I did read them before posting. In addition, I put a question mark on the subject because I am trying to understand why a single IP address is getting through one attempt about every 40 seconds. Is the plugin logging and slowing failed attempts via IP or session?

Convissor, the plugin author, explains in the FAQs his preference to to slow down and log the attacker instead of an outright ban.

If, however, you have your heart set on banning miscreants, you may want to try making edits to your htaccess file. PerishablePress.com has some great copy and paste htaccess blacklist edits to get you started that are broader than individual IP blocking.

Here’s the fix:

1. Open the file latest_news_notice.php located here:
nextgen-gallery > admin > templates > latest_news_notice.php.

2. Delete all the content within the file but not the file itself.

I’m guessing the portfolio slideshow does not know where/how to find the images when placed within main.php. You can certainly insert the shortcode in the main content box on a page.

SurfsUp74 may be able to assist though they ran into other difficulties.

You’ve the plugin running in a header? You could write a workaround. You need create a variable you can assign a value to on each page/post.

Without seeing your specific example, here is a rough idea of how to write the workaround:
1. build a variable placed appropriately to (before somewhere) your embedded tag
var LeaveOut;

2. change your slide show tag to something like
'[portfolio_slideshow exclude=LeaveOut]'

3. assign a value to the images you want to exclude on your page or post
var LeaveOut="1,2,3,4";

This looks like a plugin conflict. You may want to disable all the other plugins, establish the Portfolio Slideshow is working and then add the other plugins back in one by one to find the culprit that takes your slideshow out. Cache plugins have caused this sort of conflict for me before. If you have one you may want to start there.

It would be nice to be able to delete multiple images from a page gallery at once with check boxes and a “Delete All”.
