I solved the trouble!
In the sidebar.php file I have removed the shorcode. That’s it.

Next time, I know: first remove the widget and deactivate the plugin only afterwards.

May be it helps to fidn a solution:

When I want to install or upgrade a plugin, WordPress asks for FTP access. When provided, the process seems to work fine.

When I want to upload a picture (simple, small jpg), I get a “upload error” message, and I cannot upload the file at all.

May be it is the same error what causes all these events, including the malfunctioning of the NextGEN plugin?

Meaning: unsuccessful installation, no valid extention was found in the zip file. ??

BTW I use another plugin now: Pie Register… it serves better my needs.
It has a kind of quiz, a question (called invitation code) what one has to answer… and this is what I really needed.
Of couse, I still would translate your plugin to Hungarian. ??
