The problem I’m getting is that’s is requesting php5-curl. It notifies me of this when I try to activate it.

I’m also running a multi site if that makes a difference.

    Best,
    Kevin

    Greetings spurgmedia,

I hope your evening is going ok!

There are a variety of plugins that will allow you to create calculators and contact forms in the same place, which will be great for allowing your visitors to plug in their information and send you a request. Here’s a few of the quick ones I’ve seen that could work depending on your exact needs.

Hope these help get you on the right path! Let me know of there’s anything else I can do to help!

    Hello Alby,

I hope your having a great night!

While I haven’t dabbled with a specific post category or posts in the past, I would recommend a plugin with custom post types like pods which allows you to create a specific post type and set it’s permalink structure and page template easily.

Alternatively it might be worth checking out something like Custom Permalink which looks like it allows you to customize specific the link structure of individual posts but I haven’t tried it out myself.

I hope these options will help you on the path to what you’re looking for! Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.

    Good Morning tedret8,

I hope your having fun overall learning WordPress!

To answer your question about category/news, the easiest method I’ve found so far was following this post. Here’s the basics though!

    1. Head over to your WP-Admin Dashboard
    2. Go to Settings > Permalinks
    3. Change your custom settings to: /%category%/%postname%/
    4. Change your category base under optional to .

That should answer your needs for now. Otherwise I would suggest checking the plugins repository that does something along the same lines, or search for one that inserts post categories into pages!

Have fun and hope this helps!

    Hi Dr-Hack,

When you imported the new db, did it assign the table prefixes as wp- or blog. ? Your best bet is to start by looking at the db and see what the prefix for your database tables are.

If the table prefix is correct I would then check the wp-config.php to make sure that it is correct there as well. (looking for a blog. prefix instead of a wp- prefix

Hope this helps you find your solution!

    Morning nsingh22,

As far as removing just the dashboard from the toolbar, I’m sure there could be a method that would require creating a custom plugin for your site.

I would suggest a plugin like BuddyPress however, since it automatically takes the profile portion of a user to the front end. With BuddyPress there really will be no reason for people to be going to the dashboard other than the fact that they simply want to.

Hope this helps you in the right direction!

    Hello laslo,

While I haven’t had this happen to me personally, Have you tried changing your phpMyAdmin login and credentials? You will also need to change it in your folders wp-config.php file to match the new credentials.

Most importantly I would follow the WordPress Codex for how to remove any hacks or viruses. This should be followed regardless of whether or not the above works as that will remove any leftover files the hacker or spammer may have added.

    Hope these help,
    Kevin

    Hi MitchBowes,

I know there has to be something to meet your needs. As far as plugins that do exist, you could see if something like gwebpro could meet your need with a mix of maps and text based.

Alternatively, Store Locator Plus seems like they have a theme that is just text based

I personally have not used either of these but it could be worth a shot.

The other thing you could do is try to look at a classified or some other listing program and see if you can get the result you’d like that way.

    Hope this all helps!

    Hello malfafar,

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hope this helps,
    Kevin

    Hello again itzforu,

That sounds like it could be a DNS issue. Depending on your host you’ll need to setup a wildcard subdomain for your primary domain. The method will be particular to your host though, so I would search their support forums for help with that!

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help!

contentiskey is right, but if you delete it and then empty your post trash you should be able to keep your unique permalinks

In reply to: Custom User Profile Field?

    Hello Nocktis,

As far as custom user fields there are a couple options you guys could choose from.

BuddyPress is a decent option that is supported by Automattic, but it may be more than you actually need.

There are other alternatives you can find from this search

Finally if you are doing a commerce sight have you looked into the options from WooCommerce?

    Hope these help,
    Kevin

    Hello sunnysnaturalskincare,

Have you been able to have this resolved yet? If not, once you find out where you registered it at, you should be able to edit it from their website.

The more popular hosts are hostgator.com, godaddy.com, siteground.com, etc… each of those sites will have options for you to get back into your domain management.

    Thanks for the help jkhongusc!

Glad it worked out for your davidsword.

    Take care,
    Kevin
