The guys at GoDaddy helped me set the site back to an earlier time, but it’s still not working. I looked at the error log and this is what I see (it means nothing to me, but hopefully it will mean something to someone that can help….):

Also, another weird thing I just noticed… the favicon that was added to the https://www.orlandoconcertband.org/newsite is now showing up on the https://www.orlandoconcertband.org (old site)…

So I think I may understand what may have caused the issue… https://www.orlandoconcertband.org is supposed to be redirected to https://www.orlandoconcertband.org/newsite. Someone else used to manage the site and then moved away and didn’t share any of the info, so a new site was created. However, https://www.orlandoconcertband.org appears to be coming up now (the old version). When I changed the permalinks, I’m guessing that messed with the redirect. I won’t be able to phone GoDaddy until later today, but I wanted to share this information now in case it may offer more clues into what’s going on. If I still need to contact GoDaddy I will this evening.

Thanks @jan Dembowski. I am still having the error and I did delete the .htaccess file. I will contact GoDaddy and see if they can be of assistance.

It stopped working before I deleted the .htaccess file or renamed. It stopped working when I tried to switch the permalinks from “default” to “post name” in the settings section.

It seems a little odd that little change would make the whole site ruined.

The site is hosted by GoDaddy.

I really don’t want to start all over. I don’t know how this went so wrong.

Really? All because I wanted to change the permalinks… There’s nothing else to do to fix it…?

How do I redo it, or start over?

I renamed .htaccess to .htaccess.old before starting the thread on the forum. That did not fix the issue. I just deleted .htaccess.old and there is no longer a .htaccess, unless I am not finding it some place. The site will still not come up. ??

Hi, the same thing happened to me. I changed the permalinks to “post name” and the error happened. I switched the back, but it didn’t work or something else went wrong. I tried renaming the .htaccess file, but so far that has not worked. Is there any other advice you can offer? The site is https://www.orlandoconcertband.org.

Thanks Clayton for your response. I figured that’s what I needed to do. Unfortunately I don’t have access to the hosting site to get into the ftp access. Is there any other way? I’ve emailed the person that is supposed to have the login info for the host, but have not heard back yet. If waiting for the login to GoDaddy is the best, then I’ll just be patient, but if there is another alternative, I’d like to get things back to normal as soon as possible.
