Thanks but I don’t get it. Why can I definie my top margin as 0, but defining the bottom margin as such, doesn’t work..?

I’m overwhelmed with the info sent, but I will take my time to go through it. It’s more complicated than what my brain can handle at the moment.

Also, I find some context is missing to understand your question.
Are you talking about a child theme that you’ve modified? Which theme?
Do you mean that you want a home page that does not include posts but just a page that you can add text to?

If that is the case, then you should create a new page, call it home, add it to your menu, remove the default home from the menu, and ensure that the page you created has the default template as opposed to the showcase template.

Looking at this now, do you think your suggestion to modify the footer is still the easiest way..?

And when I say that I want the site generator text next to the footer area, I mean on the left side, vertical, and glued to the bottom of the page. So where the text begins, the first letter is at the very bottom of the page. Meaning, I want no other space below the footer, as it is now from the site generator. Hope that makes sense.
Can I share a picture somehow? I have a jpeg of how I want the page to look like…

I corrected my child style.css and now only have the changed code in it.

What do you mean with the errors in the footer code..? Do you mean that I need to add the formatting to the css rather than in the widget in the UI of my theme? If that’s what you mean, I was going to change that at a later point, was still looking for the right place to add that formatting.

Thanks for that suggestion. I don’t see how it affects my question about the width of the widget though, or how could it be related..?

I have the same problem and posted a support ticket on the owner’s website – I also feel it’s an issue with the theme
I am 99% sure that this happened after I upgraded my sites to WP 3.4.2
