Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Simple press Forum !!!I’ve had Mingle for almost a year now and it is simple enough, but that’s exactly it’s downfall. Now that my community is hundreds of people, people want more feature-rich settings, and also, for SEO, simplepress has way more than mingle. I have 800 pages in my mingle forums that arent’ indexed in search engines even though I submitted the sitemap. The sitemap is in php not xml.
I’ve been looking at migrating my mingle community to simplepress. What I don’t get is how to find the vague info it asks for in the importer.
Do you have any hints on where I could find them holmey?
Mingle Database Name
Mingle Database User Name
Mingle Database Password
Mingle Database Host
Mingle Table Prefix
Wordpress User Table PrefixMingleforum is a plugin, I didn’t manually set up databases, so I don’t even know where to look for that stuff. Any guidance is appreciated.
Oh, and as far as the support fee, yeah, I understand they want to be paid for their work in some way, I mean, I don’t work for free, and I don’t think anyone should expect I do. But I think if they made it like $20 for unlimited lifetime access, they’d have about 500% more members. Or if they simply charged for a premium version of the plugin. It’s risky… Do I pay the support fee then later find out I can’t accomplish what I want to with the plugin? then it’s freaking worthless.

In reply to: SimplePress Suddenly Starts Charging For SupportI have been on Mingle, and have over 3300 posts from 170 users, but it is just not as feature rich as I need. So I’m trying to experiment with SimplePress. The main reason is that it seems to have the features I want, and that I can export all my current forum content from Mingle to SP. However, I don’t want to spend $39 on support if it turns out I can’t do what I need done. I don’t mind them charging somehow, I mean, I don’t do things for free why should we expect them? But it’s a bit risky until I know it works for me.
I can’t figure out how to export the forum from Mingle. It asks for:
Mingle Database Name
Mingle Database User Name
Mingle Database Password
Mingle Database Host
Mingle Table Prefix
Wordpress User Table PrefixI don’t know where to get ANY of this information, as I use Mingle as a plugin. I never manually setup a database for it, and don’t know how to get the information to enter. Does anyone know where you might find that stuff? I’m sure it has to be word-for-word for it to work. My whole plan of moving to simplepress is a waste of time if I can’t get this to import.
