I didn’t change file permissions, nor did I muck around in the .htaccess file. The last thing I was doing before the site crash at 3:30 was editing the template’s sidebar.php and functions.php files in an attempt to restore a javascript ad. It’s possible that your plugin just happened to issue a backup at the same time making it look like the culprit when it was actually doing its job.
Since you’re so responsive, could I prevail upon your expertise to answer an amateur’s question even if it’s not related to your plugin? When would editing those two files return an Error Connecting to Database message? I’ve just tried uploading a clean version of the theme folder without any change…
Many thanks.
