  • Hi,

In respect to linking to galleries, I don’t think this is necessary for you to resolve this problem. The issue is in the panel for this plugin where you activate the social icons? You can switch them on, and the icons show then on each image in the gallery, but where do you place your links to the social icons? Every has different links url’s to their social networking accounts, so there must be somewhere in the plugin that we can place those URL’s? Presently I see nowhere and when the social icons are clicked on the gallery page, they link to the user’s home page on their website.

Love this gallery, could you please instruct how to link to our social networking accounts and where in the plugin this is done?

    Thanks in advance!

When I reduce my browser it takes a while before the logo reduces and the other elements, and in the meantime the menu actually goes to two lines instead of one, which I’m thinking is due to another file somewhere. One specifically for the responsive elements.

I’m just wondering if there is anyway to actually make the elements transition down in a more refined or graceful way than is currently shown and if so, which file I would look in.

Sorry I was kind of hoping by the above post you were familiar with this template.

Thank you so much! You rock! That’s the nearest I’ve got to getting those elements sorted all week! The logo now reduces now which is great.

It’s moved the menu, but it looks to be slightly right of centre? Just wondered if that is because of the width of my logo? Or the margin in the css above? (Just that it looks to be more than 20px out?)

Also the social icons have budged down from the top right by about an inch. Just wondering if you’d know where I would adjust those? I assume that there is some margin measurement somewhere or padding affecting that?

    Thanks for helping.

    I’ll post it here:

I’ve been trying to create some category pages as full width and some with a sidebar on them for a couple of days now. No joy. I set my theme with a side bar and created category pages as directed in the tutorial on the following page:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Category_Templates

as was directed. Named them to category-blog.php, portfolio category.php and so on and so forth. On those pages I removed the get sidebar at the second to last line, and assumed that wordpress would set each page automatically into full width when there is no sidebar instruction in the file.

Problem: When I visit the page it’s blank apart from the header? I had several posts in this category prior to uploading category-blog.php to the child theme folder and they’re not showing as they should when I follow WordPress documentation to the dot.

    https://www valeriejefferies.com/category/blog/

I could understand if this was a theme that isn’t supported by WordPress and some of the coding was preventing me from achieving something as simple as is laid out in WordPress documentation, but twenty twelve is an offical WordPress theme and should function as any other theme when using the WP.org documentation.

Can someone please troubleshoot with me through this issue because I see this question over and over again and I have searched the WP forums for other similar queries and a lot of the same queries have “topic closed” or their abandoned when the issue isn’t evne resolved.

I’ve posted several times in the past few days and got to no suitable resolution and I’n no codie but I fully understand the instruction on the documentation linked to and have done as suggested to no avail. I’d like to use the above method or some other simple method of getting my blog to function as I need it to e.g. some category pages showing a sidebar or other category pages showing full width and no side bar.

Please can someone help me get this sorted. My site is a mess at the moment and I have a ton of other stuff I need to get done on there besides this. It’s an issue if there are several people posting to ask the same question and no proper resolution. I cant find anything anywhere where this is resolved or easy to understand.

[This comment was posted as a new topic because I had followed the wordpress documentation as well as using a WordPress supported theme and the help I have had has not been helpful or clear enough for me to understand.

I’m using a WordPress supported theme, following instructions and getting nowhere. I’ve searched for days on the forums on this topic and there is nothing else that resolves it at all. I normally resolve issues with wordpress within a few hours, and to have my topic closed within a second of posting it when it is relevant or changing from what it started out as, it’s not good. Try reading something because whichever mod closed it could not possibly have read it before closing it it was that quick.

It deserved a thread of its own and I think I had a point actually.]

I’ve tried the above but no joy. Don’t know if I am doing something wrong… by after the second line in category php do you mean after “get header” or after “if have posts?”

    Thanks

There are two themes. One is my photography theme (set for the whole web site). The other is a fitness theme (which I switched to temporarily to place some widgets in the side bar). Then I switched back to my photography theme (full width) and entered all the URL’s to categories that I wanted to display with a sidebar. e.g.

    https://www.valeriejefferies.com/category/fifty-shades-fitter

was input into the Multiple Themes plugin and I then seleted my fitness theme for that category to display, but the sidebar doesn’t show up.

I’ve used that plugin before to display different sidebars for each theme, but for some reason when trying to diplay full width theme and side bar theme it defaults to full width.

I haden’t placed any widgets in the secondary area on the fitness theme no.

Thanks for responding I’ll try both and see how I go.

Thanks – useful for net time I post. Just wondering if you can delete your response on this thread, and this response I’m making so that it look like there are no responses to my question. Just a little worried that other’s may skip it thinking its been answered. Cheers.

    Things I have done:

Exported my pages and content to my HD

A restore of the database with file that was backed up prior to using DB Backup Manager. There was a DB error but it was just somethig about a syntax error on a link I had created on a page some months ago. When I navigated to the website all contents had been deleted.

    Reinstalled WordPress from admin panel

After this imported the file that I had exported and had all my content back, but the menu had tripled itself, there were three of everything link wise. I had to deletes some menu items.

It’s back to where it was before I started and none of that has fixed the issue, so can only assume that the issue existed bedore the backup made this evening. When I check the other backup folders in my email client, all the zip foldera are empty?

I had another backup program set up to backup nightly and email me the file, but those xip folders contain nothing? So I can’t use those at the moment to restore to an earlier take my blog further back. The plugin I had set up to do that was Keep Backup Daily, but obviously it wasnt working?

    If you goto:

    https://www.thebridesboudoir.com/

you will see a featured post. Click on the title to the featured post and you will get a blank page.

Just wondering if this is at all fixable or will I need to delete my database and start from scratch?

If I delete my database and back up my images and data, then create a new database and inport the exported file as well as placing my images back in the folders will the blog be as it is now or is there something else I should download before I delete the DB?

The strange thing is I have many private posts which seem fine when I hit the link to here:

    https://www.thebridesboudoir.com/category/plan-a-wedding/

I can see all those posts showing as admin, but when I click into a post to adjust it and preview it, it doesn’t show? Almost like the preview function has been affected?

I also installed Better Delete Revisions plugin and removed some revisions but have disabled these plgins and nothing seems to work.

I finally managed to login… resent the reset email and had to literally look for the original code sent to my gmail account. For some reason the URL is not showing in gmail…you have to go into the settings on the drop down and click “Show Original”

I have no idea why the click on link doesn’t show in the body of the email itself though. My gmail is set to show html and everything.

Sorry for the meltdown… thought my blog had been hacked. lol

In the past week, a major ISP here in NZ has been riddled with virus from yahoo…I am not signed with that ISP but this virus has been spreading via peoples email accounts on that particular ISP. But I am now wodering about the ads that came up on my blog and how that occurred.

Absolutely disgraceful that these people can advertise on my website without my permission and get a profit from it…especially damned cheeky when the ads are on key words all through your pages. That has got to be a law suit waiting to happen. As it is I will soon be setting ads up on my site, but like h*** will I put up with other companies placing ads on my website and not paying for that privelage.

The only other unusal thing occuring in my wordpress admin prior to this happening were ads coming up everytime I clicked in places and typed keywords. I have no clue if one of my kids has installed a tool bar. The ads were keyword based and also threw links up on all my posts on key words.

I had a similar thing happen some months ago and deleted some PITA tool bar from my browser, but it occurred again last week. This time though my whole machine went down gradually over days. I couldn’t boot into Safemode nothing… took me a whole day to drag important files over to my external drive. No matter what I did I couldnt fix it and inthe end I had to completely reformat.

I’ve never had a virus before, but whatever it was seemed like a virus to me. Now I can’t log into my site.

I have two ID’s set up. One for administrator, and one for user above. I have reset both passwords in phpmyadmin, and still can’t log in with the login form for some reason. To be honest I thought I had my password correct before but I couldnt log in with that either. Would there be a good reason why I cannot login?
