Did someone just add that link? Also my follow up post disappeared I think.

Anyway I looked at the link and I can’t see anything mentioning size limitations. I’d just like to know if TablePress will meet my needs for this (I do hope so)because I want to avoid setting it all up just for it to not work.

As mentioned I already use TablePress for other (small) tables on my site so if I can avoid having to install further plugins – all the better.

    Thanks

OK I’ve been looking at this in some more depth and having trouble getting it to do what I want. I want to have various data columns, viewable and sortable by page viewers but of course no mods possible by them. I need to be able to input data with a minimum of hassle.

In due course – (a long process over time) there may be hundreds, even thousands of records SOME of which I’ll want to connect with other pages in the site to provide additional details.

    1. Is this the right tool? (I’ve looked at PODS but it’s even more confusing tome)
    2. If I create this database can it later be exported (eg a CSV file) so I can import it into a different plugin or system if required)?
    3. Are there any tutorials you can point me to?

Thank you so much for your assistance

I know this post was a long time ago but I can’t resist commenting…

Telling me that my theme has javaScript errors, or that I am in visual editor is insulting

Nobody told you that. The author, and sizzlemonkey, made suggestions as to what might be causing it to not function.

They were not to know that:
    1. You are a WP developer, so you (apparently) know what you’re doing; or that
    2. You are so far up yourself.

If you know what you are doing (as you claim)then how is it that so many beginners rate this highly, but you couldn’t get it to work?…..

Well, Dhyana you will probably never read this, but I feel a lot better !

No, I’m happy to set it up – I just meant something that doesn’t require coding etc and is impossibly technical to maintain !

I’ll have a look at those, thanks.

    Anyone else?

No, really, if the them people aren’t reading this – anyone can answer.
Anyone who has bought the Pro version and can tell me about the license/cost info as above please?

    and FYI the errors are:

FAIL API Key and Secret Key Present
FAIL Connected To Facebook Graph API
    FAIL Loaded Your Profile
    FAIL Loaded Test Profile
    FAIL PRO Features Unlocked

But I do have the App ID and secret key data set in the plugin.

From what i can tell that must only be in the pro version.

Thanks for your help. I say the Perma links to default and is working now. None of the other link portions would work though.

    Cheers

The image slider is a feature of the pro version, not the free version which is why it dopes not appear in the control panel of the free version.

The work-around (of using different images more applicable to your site) is as described by eduhitter above.

Go into where you have wordpress installed and go into the subdirectory – wp-content/themes/adventurous/images/demo

The tiger images in that folder are named named slider-1-1600×600.jpg and slider-2-1600×600.jpg

Now find two images that you want on your website, instead of the tigers. Use any photo program and resize them to 1600×600 dimensions. Then save those new images in the folder under the same names as the existing images.

Refresh your website in the browser and it should now show your new images.

If you really want to be able to do it via the control panel just pay for the pro version of the theme – it appears to good value for money.

    Hope that helps.

Please ignore this thread (mods feel free to delete please) – I found all the stuff cruising around the wordpress site and theme sites. Cheers.

Thanks, I can’t recall the name of the them (except that its a 2014 child theme IIRC) I’ll have to check that as well.

I am however considering a number of different themes.
The problem was there whether or not any plugins were activated.

I’ll post again once I’ve tried the above.

    Cheers.

    Thanks.

I’ll try the permalinks thing when I get home.

And yes that’s exactly how I did the menu. It appears on the site when I run it (locally at least) but the links don’t work resulting in aforementioned 404 errors.

Hmm OK I found out more about how WP works.

WordPress pages and directories are virtual and not actual physical items. When you visit a post, page or archive it load the appropriate template from your theme and then get the content from you database. No actual directories or physical pages are created.

SO that’s that (makes it hard forme to head my head around how it works, but anyway…)

That still leaves me with the issue of a non-working menu!
