Thanks for answering ?? Then I just have to wait till these plugins are compatible. We are “building” some new pages nowadays, so we need the access to the “Grid” from the editor.
And yes, I have tested your gallery function, but it doesn’t cover our needs like NextGen do. We don’t want to fill up the media library with all the pictures, could be 50 and more, we have for one post only. It will be a mess in the media library if we use that for our gallerier. On the other hand, we have a multisite, 5 different langauges, and using NextGen requires pictures upload on each site. If the gallery function could be “separated” from the ordinary media library, we could get away with one upload and use the “media share” plugin to share the gallery on several of our sites.
The shortcode plugin we have used only for buttons and it seems like the “button” in the new editor covers our need in posts/pages, even if there are fewer layout options. But “Shortcode Ultimate” also works in widgets, so…

I will ask in the plugin’s support about this too, and hopefully they will update and be compatible in not so long. Until then we just have to check out the tutorials and learn how to use Gutenberg ??

I just found this video tutorial showing shortcode ulitmate used on theme 2014. As you can see at 25.15 the preview pictures on the post list appears correct as a “full square”. This is a 3 years old video. I therefore guess my problem is related to my websites. I have deactivated all the plugin and the problem is still there, so i dont know what can cause this. Any suggestions?

And now I added a child theme to one of my sides, and added your suggestion in the CSS. Unfortunately nothing happened. So it seems to that if you use featured pictured in your post, you wont get the correct preview picture on the list. Nothing to do with that.

But what about teh picture to the Teaser template? That is extremely small. You can hardly see it. I have both templates on this list. You can scroll down to see how the teaser list appear.

Hi there, sorry for late reply to your help.
#1 Yes, I see now that the “standard” picture is a square box, and that my featured picture only fill up half of it. When I check the preview of the list, it show up perfect, with a complete square picture. Still strange that the output ends like it does, whit only a half square picture. I tested it with the themes 2015, 2016 and 2017, and also another theme, media press. All had the same half square picture in front. Is it meant to be like that? Why is the preview correct while the output ends up wrong?

#2 also in the other themes the YT-link showed up in the excerpt, even if it is not in the manual set excerpt in the post. Seems like YT-links sneaks into the list for some reason.

3. I dont use a child theme, unfortunately on all my 3 websites, so I will have to do this in the main theme folder. Will try ??

Not sure what you mean.

Have you tested your post with Facebook Debugger? By doing that you may get som indication on why the featured picture doesn’t appear.

If you don’t want the menu, you just empty it by deleting the list of pages/links or whatever that is added in that menu. It is empty when you start using it, so if you havent added anything there yourself, check the settings. You may have a setting that automatically choose your pages to appear if you dont set your own menu.

Theme 2014 doesn’t handle shorcodes by itself, so you haveto install a shortcode plugin. I use this one, but due to a theme problem, it only gives small previews picture.

Unfortunately there are no one of the official people who answer our questions in this support forum. I have no clue why, since this is an official theme by WP, and shouldhave been followed up by WP.
I checked your “category list” and see what yoy mean. Theme 2014 doesnt have shortcodes, so you have to install a plugin who can give you the option. I use this one

Unfortunately there seems to be a theme problem with the preview pictures in the lists you can make. They appears very small.

The theme is free. It’s one of WP’s own themes. They usually come up with a new theme every year,and the name indicate the year it was released. This one is from 2014.

The reason why I ended up here was that no one seems to reply at all in that support forum, and I therefore scrolled down the support forum in hope to see if anyone else had the same problem, and that’s when I found your post a year ago. ??

Hi there. Not sure if this is the right Place to contact you. I saw you had a question in the support of the plugin “Shortcodes Ultimate” a year ago about square/recagular pictures when using the post shortcode. I started testing out the plugin now, and have the same problem. Did you ever find out how to solve the problem?

One one website of mine I have blue titles and another brown, so I think this is related to your color setting of the website.
