  • confirmed, you are correct on this matter. I just checked using IE and FF and FF will not load the style sheets. One thing that I can add to the discussion, although it may be an insignificant point: is that when I disabled noscript some of the styles changed, text became bigger etc. and some of the colours appeared (as opposed to a white background) however the site was still a mess on FF so you may want to disable all and any plugins (I am talking about firefox plugins not wordpress plugins) and see if that works. If that is the case and it is plugin interference then you need a snippet of code to work around that, however I am no expert on these matters of coding so its just a thought, but try disabling all your firefox plugins

First change to another theme. Then delete the old theme and reinstall it. Now change back to the old theme. That is what I would do. You may have reasons for not wanting to do that though. I cant think of any but it may necessitate modding the theme again to how you had it before you made the mistake

You might want to see this thread which gives a very elegant solution in the form of a snippet of php code which acts as a plugin.
It’s a very good thread and I just solved this very problem by taking the advice there

Also can I just add to the OPs feedback and say, that I believe it’s a great theme and is one of the most professional, fully featured, and honest themes that I have so far encountered on WordPress. It’s a great credit to the developers that they actually seem to value the GPL highly and they are giving great value. As soon as I have tested the theme thoroughly and have my site up and running I will make a donation, or do something to show my support and appreciation of their work

I can confirm it works. I just used this and I named my php file changeoyay.php and then made a new folder in my plugins directory and put the php file in that directory. Works like a dream ! thanks. LOL infact I liked the “Powered by super martians from mars ” so much I just left that on my site. Makes me smile every time I see it. Thanks for the valuable info and the laughs Jan !
Edited: As I would just like to say I believe that the developers should be credited. It’s a very professionally designed theme and one which deserves recognition so I will be changing that powered by martians thing on my site when its properly running

this is something I want to know too

Well that’s fair enough and I think youre right they are telling people to pay for support, by which they mean upgrade to pro. It’s just the way they are doing that which irks me.
I didnt like the fact they are being sharp in their interpretation of the GPL. There is a difference between “complying” with the law or with contractual terms, and being “in the spirit of”. I just think that the attitude is lets offer free support and offer all this functionality and stick what amounts to an advert in the admin side of the theme, and when they come for support on the lite theme we’ll just shrug and say “go buy the pro version”. I agree they comply with the GPL but I think as far as the spirit of the GPL is concerned their only wish is they could do away with that license all together. Frankly I flirted with their theme for 20 minutes before deciding to get help and then all I was told was “buy the pro version” which sucks considering many other authors are only too willing to help even though they provide lite and pro themes
I still think the originators of the GPL would think the same as me

I thought I would add in the relevant quote from

to save people having to track through a load of irrelevant posts

What you’re trying to do here isn’t cool because you’re essentially ripping-off your customers, in my view. You’re not *selling* them anything tangible. The code to do the “premium” options is already in the theme, all that you’re selling them is a code to turn that functionality on. What’s even worse is that the code only unlocks functionality that you intentionally locked away behind it in the first place.

It’s like selling somebody a safe on the cheap and then charging them extra for the key after they’ve already gotten the safe.
