OK god, it’s resolved. For some reason after all the stuff I did (deactivating it, using whatever other popup makers, etc etc) the settings of it has changed to NOT include the PUM CSS stylesheet etc (Plugins > PUM > Settings)
Wait, or maybe that was one of my last-ditch effort to make it work before trying other plugins.
Either way, thanks for the help, I prefer PUM way more than Hustle and some others plain doesn’t work.
Hello yogaman, it is now activated.
I’ve figured out that the problem came from bad HTML/CSS on my part. I didn’t realise that HTML/CSS was capable of making things like the wordpress navigation (the black top bar) disappear, so I thought it was something else.I’ve now reactivated it, and everything works except the popup comes in a transparent background. If you go to the same link now it is activated and you can see it.
Ive tried Hustle (turns out, not free either) and Popup Builder and still prefer PopupMaker, but unfortunately it doesnt work… I cant understand why I seem to be one of few who are having problems since 4.8.1. Hustle. It doesnt work even with Twenty Sixteen and no other plugins activated.
For anyone looking, Im not sure if I actually deactivated it over the weekend.
My boss has decided for us to just go with a different plugin so I am going to be working on the page and altering, perhaps its best for me to just close the thread?
Hello yogaman, the page in question is now up without the maintenance mode. (I kept it on for the homepage because the client wants it hidden until finished)

Thanks for the tip on where to import! As it turns out, even if I deleted the plugin, and reinstall it, the popups are still there. (although clearly, that did not solve the problem.)
Also, another problem: normally when one is logged in as admin, there is always a black topbar on top of the webpage, like an abbreviated dash. When Popupmaker is activated though, the blackbar disappears, and one is left with a see-through gap between the header and the navigator. Obviously visitors to the site won’t see it (only admins will) but it might give you some clues on the nature of the problem.
*** I should mention that we updated to 4.8.1 on August the 2nd, and on august 3 things were still working fine until 3pm.
I already tried deactivating and re-activing Popupmaker to see what happens.
I would like to delete the whole plugin and re-download, activate, except I dont know how to import the .xml file of all the popups I’ve already made. Anyone knows how?
Much thanks for reading.
