In reply to: Is it possible to password protect a folder in WordPress?I need a way for the members of this organization to get to the folder. I am assuming that I need to have a menu item that brings up the dialog box to enter the username and password when it is click on and then takes them to the folder.

In reply to: Is it possible to password protect a folder in WordPress?I’m sorry, I’m hot and tired and I have tried so many permutations that at this point I can’t remember all that I did and what the consequences were. Suffice it to say that I either end up getting into the folder without having to enter the password or I can’t get passed entering the username and password and getting an error.
And, to make matters worse, I have to reboot each time I enter the username and password. My computer accepts that I am allowed in unless I reboot.

In reply to: Is it possible to password protect a folder in WordPress? No, the problem is actually accessing the folder. I can get the dialog box up and to enter username and password and then I get an error message saying contact the server people.

In reply to: Is it possible to password protect a folder in WordPress?Sort of, not with a cpanel, but in file management I added a password. The problem is the placement of the file and how to call it. I haven’t figured out the correct way to do it.

In reply to: Which files must be changed for Child Theme?I thought I would finish this thread for future reference for anyone wanting to adapt an existing website to WordPress.
I found that using the theme Weaver II, not selecting a subtheme and making CSS changes in the designated places is allowing me to adapt the website to WordPress with the least amount of effort.
Thanks for your help, WPyogi.

In reply to: Which files must be changed for Child Theme?Thank you. It will take me some time to work my way through the articles. If I have any problems, I will be back. Unfortunately, I have a number of websites that I designed some time ago that I have been maintaining for my clients that need to be adapted to WordPress. They are all very different, as they are hand coded and they are not very sophisticated compared to WordPress. I have to adapt them so that they can be easily maintained by my clients as I am starting to slip rather badly and I need them to be ready to be handed off before I am not able to explain what the clients will need to do.
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Which files must be changed for Child Theme?Thank you for responding. I can see that I have my work cut out for me.
Any suggestions on how to make vertical navigation instead of horizontal?
Thanks

In reply to: site doesn't show up on IPADThanks a bunch. Breadcrumbs are a new one on me. Although I have used WordPress to build blogs for clients, this is the first time I have used it for a whole website. Not a bad way to go, once I get the hang of it.

In reply to: site doesn't show up on IPADThanks. I do a freebie once or twice a year and this was one of them. Pizza Klatch was started by a parent who was able to help her then high school aged son before he committed suicide. He is now in college and feeling good about himself.
One more nitpicky thing I need to fix. The name of each page appears twice. I would really like to get rid of one of them (preferably the smaller one under the nav bar and above the larger name.) I am not adept yet at figuring out pages that are generated by code. If you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

In reply to: site doesn't show up on IPADI have to do some more configuring, but I have found a Theme that seems to work: WeaverII. (I haven’t had it checked in IPAD, but it should work, as I can still see the content when I make the site smaller.) Thanks for your help and feedback. It doesn’t look as good in IE, but I dislike IE and only use it to check my sites.
(There is something to be said for hand coding, lol)
