I just figured out where I’m confused. Please ignore/delete/close as you see fit.
Thanks for the link. I will look into it.
The feature I wanted was to list the next N upcoming events from the calendar somewhere visible. I thought that Simple Calendar did that, though I’ll never know.
I wanted to add for everyone else’s benefit that I believe I figure out the instructions, but the plugin still doesn’t work. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a good alternative out there.

I thought I was having trouble because the instructions are out of date. I had figured out what to do, but the plugin is broken the same way everyone else describes here.
I’m glad to hear you say this. It’s not just me!

In reply to: Exporting content from form plug-insThank you for all of your suggestions.
I’ve spent the last couple of days working on the problem. Then I tripped over Google Forms. Google Forms was designed to solve my exact problem. I will make a form, then I’m going to embed it in WP.
There is a plugin to make Google Forms look pretty on WP. There seems to be some debate in the comments about whether it is up to date or not. But a straight embed will always work.
I’m sure I’m in for some dire experience with weird, installation-specific incompatibilities. Let me know if I should update folks on how it went.

In reply to: Exporting content from form plug-insGravity forms looks great, but I’m not sure my little house of worship can afford an annual fee.
I’m sure this will all be easier to sort out when I have a functional test site so I can install things, poke them, and see what happens.

In reply to: Constructor themeI’m curious about the status of the Constructor theme. New versions of it do not appear as part of the regular WordPress upgrade process. Since the version I had no longer worked with the current version of WP, I went looking for it on the WP theme pages. I searched for it and found an entry for Constructor. However, when I clicked to it, there was no Constructor, only some suggestions for other themes.
I did find a more up-to-date version, but I’m left with the feeling that this theme is longer supported. Also, I can’t recommend the theme to less technical friends of mine if it takes extra steps to upgrade.
I will be grateful for any information.

In reply to: Unable to "Ad an Image" after upgrading to 3.1Since I didn’t find anything myself, I concluded this was a case not so much of WordPress being broken, but that I can’t trouble-shoot anything when I have a migraine. Since I have chronic daily migraines, I found someone who didn’t have them. He turned up the problem using the debugging list.
Thank you for your patience.

I agree that it’s frustrating getting unhelpful answers, but threatening to take your business elsewhere is a rude thing to do given that you aren’t paying for the service. I’d like to see a solution to this issue, so please refrain from irritating the volunteers.

I didn’t think it was necessary to say that I’ve already read that document (and the sticky at the top of the group about upload problems). I’ll do that here.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, what was the solution?

In reply to: Unable to "Ad an Image" after upgrading to 3.1P.S. I have this problem on two different Macs using different versions of FF, so I don’t think it’s a reload cache issue.
