I’m still having trouble with my blog. I and some others can’t access the blog (it seems to be a random thing — sometime you can and sometime you can’t). If I find I can’t access the blog on a particular day, then I delete the cookies for my blog (just the cookies for my blog only — I don’t need to delete temp files or history like I thought before). When I delete the triviumpursuit cookies then I can access the blog, but I cannot make comments or access my control panel to make a post or do anything.
I don’t know too much about this but the cookies look a little different from other cookies. Here is the text:

I notice that there is no expiration time for the first two cookies. When I examine other cookies in my files, they all have specific expiration times.
Here is what my computer guy wants to do:
1. Allow me to disable the rewrite/redirect that you have setup via your .htaccess file. This was done by someone else and it is not a part of WordPress. Its purpose is to make search engine friendly urls but I don’t think that is necessary. I believe disabling the .htaccess files will correct the random blocks.
This was done a couple of days ago, but it didn’t solve the problem. Now I haven’t been able to access the control panel for 2 full days.
2. Update your wordpress theme/template to be more current with the latest version of WordPress or use a more current theme/template. If you want to update your current theme then you will need to hire a wordpress developer to do that.
The computer guy said this would happen if he did #2:
Well…we can try erasing the .htaccess file from the /blog/ directory. The problem is that we’d then also need to change the URL for each of the blog entries. Right now they are SEO-friendly but that depends on an active .htacess file. If we erase that file, we’ll need to revert the individual pages to their non-SEO forms. That is also going to break any of your inbound links.
This second suggestion seems rather drastic. It seems to me that the problem has to do with cookies.
I am able to access my blog by deleting cookies, temp files, and history, as can other people. But once on the blog, no one can comment, and I still can’t log in. I just now found this error message at the very bottom of the blog:
Warning: include() [function.include]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/harveyb/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/trivium-pursuit/footer.php on line 19

Here is my blog address:
https://www.triviumpursuit.com/blog/index.phpI had to go in and delete cookies, temp files and history again this morning (as did at least one other person who lives in a different state — not on my same IP address) to access the blog but even after doing that I was able to access the blog but I can’t access the control panel. Here pasted below is the error message I get — others get different error messages.
The only plugins I have is askimet — the spam catcher.

In reply to: Posts being set to ‘private’ accidentlyI had this exact same thing happen to me last night. I’ve been using WordPress for about 2 years now and keep everything up to date. BTW, I love WordPress and rarely have problems.
Last night I went in and slightly edited a post I had made the day before. When I went to look at the edited post I saw it had the word “Private” at the beginning of the title of the post and the post itself wasn’t viewable to the public. I went back in and made a very slight edit again to the post and it went back to normal.
I wonder what’s up.

In reply to: comments not indicated on main pageDear Word Press Volunteers,
I don’t mean to hyjack this thread, but my question seems to go along with this question. I have comments enabled on my blog and people add comments occasionally (I think there are a total of 23 comments so far), but I would like it if there was an indication at the end of each blog entry that there are such and such a number of comments posted. When people read the blog entry on the main page of the blog they don’t see any indication of comments. It’s only after they go to the specific blog URL that they see the comments. How can I add this to my blog?
Thank you. Laurie Bluedorn
