    Hi,

I think you are insulting my intelligence asking me to fill out a form. I have provided you all the information you need to resolve my issues, if you honestly wish to do so.

I sent numerous messages to your company through your support system. I have a pending Paypal dispute opened on the 8th of May, and your organization has refused to respond to all Paypal’s attempts to reach you … which means that the dispute will last it’s full course of weeks before I get refunded.

I paid for this plugin on the 28th of April, under pressure to use the software, and for 3 weeks now you have been messing me around … I hardly think filling out what could be another trap of a form will make any difference.

I have gone ahead and bought another plugin for the same need, and so the only resolution I am waiting for is that you refund me … So, if you mean well, just refund me

I am sure that I will eventually recover my money from you … No thanks for wasting my time

And just to add this, because it is still current.

You have refused to refund me, even as you know I have not used your plugin. You have left me no other options but to use Paypal dispute system (which could take weeks) to try and get a refund.

So, your responding here is seeming like an empty PR stunt, and your organisation really does not have honest intentions.

    Hello,

    Thank you for responding …

You are right, I have not tested your other plugins to be able to make such a claim. I was just frustrated and upset that I could have that experience. The worst aspect is having someone respond to your emails (on at least 4 occasions) and in each occasion, it was clear they never read one’s pressing messages …

That’s totally unacceptable, to say the least … in this line of business. Often people are under pressures of time. To frustrate a customer, who has paid you money for a product, and act like you don’t give a damn … that was my pain …

Then I asked for a refund repeatedly, and was totally ignored for days …

Anyways, when I buy plugins I like to think I do thorough research, and so it needs to be driven by a particular need at the time … being in a situation, where I have lots of plugins looking for needs is no real advantage to me … if anything, it’s a distraction … Just saying …

I will not share my email address here … if you search for my username in your customer emails, you will see me there …

    No offense meant …

    Thanks again and best regards

Wow, thanks David & Sayontan for having these insightful conversations.

I have now installed the dev version of MLA, and made the code changes suggested by Sayontan on Photonic ..

    • MLA is now using the mime-type icon (where a featured image is absent) for videos.
    • Photonic is indeed playing the videos, right within the lightbox. The initial popup get’s in the way and needs to be closed, but I think Photonic has a setting to deal with this initial pop-up.

So, certainly between the both of you, you have helped resolve this need of mine .. I am mighty grateful for that.

PS: Sayontan, supporting PDFs that link to media files will be very useful for some use cases.

    Thanks a million for responding.

It looks like the [kgvid] shortcode and the id=”xxx” parameter in the Video Embed & Tnumbnail plugin can be made to work with MLA’s support for other gallery generating plugins if you need that.

Yes, please can you add that functionality. I suspect that Photonic might need that as a helper, because currently the thumbnails generated by MLA are not being picked up by Photonic

    Further update ..

I have now gotten the video thumbnails displaying via MLA .. and still Photonic is not picking them up.

So, you are right, you will probably need to make a change for video support to work with MLA.

Thanks again for your quick support.

Just seen your earlier response, thank you.

Indeed, I have been so impressed with both MLA & Photonic (and the confusing WP Album Plus). I am a linux guy who codes in python, and so far have been unimpressed with much of what I see in wordpress plugins until I encountered these plugins (including yours) ..

Thanks for writing it and keeping it free ..

I think there is much to gain from MLA & Photonic working welll together .. perhaps incorporating the video thumbnail generator plugin I mentioned above.

As to timelines, you are giving this away, but also need to pay your bills .. So, set your priorities accordingly. Much respects.

=== Posting here just for completion ===

I have now read through the mla documentation section titled ‘Thumbnail Substitution Support, mla_viewer’ and researched this some more ..

So, I need to enable thumbnail generation/substitution support .. and the use of featured images for video files in mla settings.

Then find a way to generate the a thumbnail for each video and set it as featured image

    Found 2 good plugins:
    * https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/video-thumbnails/ (which needs ffmpeg/libav on the backend)
    * https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/video-embed-thumbnail-generator/ (which also needs ffmpeg/libav .. but can alternatively use one’s browser for videos that can play natively on browsers)

I am now using the later plugin to solve this problem.

I have now isolated the problem:

MLA picks up the videos but as text URL with no thumbnail associated with them, and that is probably why photonic does not see them ..

So, this is entirely an issue coming from MLA.

When I have used photonic directly for media hosted in picassa, it uses the thumbnail defined within picassa .. So, I took it for granted that all usage of video files do the same ..

Please, how do I get videos to show thumbnails in galleries created with MLA ?

Thank you for the super fast response .. MLA is ‘Media Library Assistant’ which adds a huge array of extra functionality to the native wordpress media library ..

MLA has support for videos definitely ..

So, this is entirely an issue coming from MLA. Will have to figure out how to auto-associate a thumbnail to a video ..

Thanks again for your excellent support.
