The WP media gallery doesn’t actually test files if they are real images.
LG 1.1.9 has an extra security feature to check if you are not uploading malicious files e.g. renamed scripts.
It uses the getimagesize() function. Apparantly this function fails on your server.

somehow php getimagesize() does not work.
What error message do you get when you remove the @ from @getimagesize in frontend.php line #805?

What is your setting for folder icons?

May be a bug in sub folder sorting.

A link to the development version is on the download page. Do you have any error log entries for the 500 error?

All comments, captions and descriptions will be preserved when you upgrade to a new version.
BTW, I can’t guarantee the upgrade procedure works flawlessly in beta versions.

Sub folders display below the images table.
Try dragging folders by grabbing the left side of the table row.
You can also sort by clicking the table headers.

If you really need comments NOW, LG isn’t the appropriate solution.

I couldn’t reproduce this error on our testserver.
Do you use the WYSIWYG or the HTML editor?
