In reply to: Menu troubles…Hi Herpsta — This is definitely a CSS issue, possibly with some jQuery thrown in as well. You’re definitely going to need a professional to help you out as this is not something that requires a small bit of HTML editing or beginner’s level code. It unfortunately requires some what advanced (at a minimum: upper intermediate) debugging skills that I don’t think you’ll be able to find for free on the forums here, but I could be wrong.
Thanks,

In reply to: Website redirected to spam site on iPhoneThat sounds about right ??
Could you post your website’s URL here?
Unfortunately design on the web doesn’t always translate over well to design on mobile devices. It could be an issue with your front end code, but I’ll take a look first to give you a better idea.

In reply to: Menu troubles…I am so sorry. My apologies. It’s been a very, very long day and I’ve been working through the weekend. I understand completely. I’m often called Laura. I have no immediate need for the link to be there but I’ve been very confused about these issues w/ referrals to paid services, etc…
I’ll be much more careful in the future. Thanks again.

In reply to: paste html image/mapping in header spotBlount — Seacoast is right. Image maps definitely aren’t considered part of the best practices for usability. Could you try creating more semantic links? Like a piece of text or an image with proper text replacement or attribute information?

In reply to: How to include a period on permalink? Yoast signalsMarius — I wouldn’t worry much about this. Try just using petersburg as your focus keyword in Yoast for your own clarity. Search engines will pickup on the connection regardless.

In reply to: What to put in the tags Box?Great metaphor, Christine!
I also try to reserve proper nouns to the tag area only, as they can be helpful in many instances of WordPress depending on your industry.

In reply to: Website redirected to spam site on iPhoneIt sounds like you might have some malware that snuck its way into your WordPress installation. Here’s some great information from Google on these topics further: https://www.google.com/goodtoknow/online-safety/
I’d suggest also taking advantage of Google’s free webmaster tools to detect this as well: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
It’s a great service and will let you maintain information about your websites related to Google more easily in the future.
Of course, I could be wrong but it wouldn’t hurt to use these tools to check.
Cheers,

In reply to: Shop online for WordPress? [HELP]Hi Valenb —
We’ve really enjoyed working with https://getshopped.org/ before. The core is free to download, and they offer lots of useful paid options and extensions as well. The support forums are great, too.

In reply to: Set default tag to new postsUnfortunately I don’t have a plugin or piece of code to solve this, but I’m curious why you might want to do this from a UX/usability standpoint. Would you mind elaborating?

In reply to: Menu troubles…Seacoast, I’m aware of basic forum etiquette and have sincerely been trying to do my best, but these issues aren’t entirely clear. Thank you for your time.

In reply to: Menu troubles…Mike — what about the use of an agency name in your username, like in Seacoast’s instance? Just a bit confused. Thanks!

In reply to: Menu troubles…Mike —
I completely understand. Feel free to delete my message — I had no idea.
While it’s possible to dispense lots of advice and direction via a forum setting like this, a lot of WordPress related work requires a much deeper look which my team nor I have the time to do for free unfortunately ?? I’m trying to set aside an hour or two each week to dispense as much free help as I can on these forums, and had no idea that direction to a paid service was against the terms of use as I assumed users who were left in the dark would be interested in a solution, paid or not.
Thank you for the clarification. Would it be appropriate to simply direct users to jobs.wordpress.net as I’d be happy to send work to someone else; there’s no need for our company to look for jobs here as we’re fairly booked as it is and I had no intention of solicitation on these forums, only a few helpful posts. Users may really just be as in the dark about this fact as I was.
Also, would it be appropriate to send users to a paid plugin? Does a problem only arise when you’re in any way associated with the plugin? For example, https://vaultpress.com/
Thank you,
Lara
