So the XML files are dynamic and populated when you load each is requested? Are they cached? Just trying to understand how this plugin works?

Quick question since both of those are paid plugins and don’t seem to have a demo:

This will allow for accurate shipping rates without having to set up shipping zones and classes?

Also, with the 150-pound limit that is set by UPS, what happens when someone completes an order that is over 150 pounds? Specifically, curious how WooCommerce deals with this. Will it indicate that the order will be shipped in separate orders?

Found the issue! It wasn’t the theme but the demo data that was imported as apart of the theme. The theme came with Algolia autocomplete baked which made a change I followed up with the developer explaining the issue.

Well, first of all, thank you for the Gist!

Quick question while I am digging into this:

The problem that I am having does not impact the auto-complete which works as expected.

However, when I use either the instant search or “use Algolia in the backend” I am seeing either zero results or very poor results.

This then points at the instantsearch.php being part of the problem but I have one question:

Does the instantsearch also power the search when “use algolia in the backend” is selected? And, if not what file should I be looking at modifying (in regards to the gist you published)?

Well, I do appreciate the help here. So a sincere thank you.

However, I really feel for the people that won’t go this length. Not really fair to these users. Any email that is sent out be the stie should be able to be configured within the admin (like every other platform I am aware of).

I don’t think this is due to FacetWP. I am not using it but when I enable “Use Algolia in the backend”:

– The autocomplete responds to config changes within Algolia.
– However, very poor results are returned in WordPress that do not align with what I am seeing in the Algolia admin (for the same queries).
– Examples, are searching for “soup” I get everything except soup (soap, superior, etc.) and searching for “noodles” returns zero results when there is plenty of soup and noodles on my site.
– I then went into the Typo Tolerance section of the Algolia admin and tried to change it to min and then strict but none of these configs changed the results at all (however, these configs did impact the autocomplete).
– I then just turned of Typo Tolerance and I get the exact same results as I did when it was enabled.
– Note that I have not installed any plugins that would impact the search

Like someone mentioned above, wp-sitemap.xml doesn’t currently work.

I get that UI elements for some of these features were considered non-goals but it does feel like the XML sitemap URL should at least be accessible from the admin somewhere (settings maybe)?

@jcastaneda – Why am I trying to change the email address used for the forgot password notifications? Because they say from [email protected] and I need it to be [email protected].

– In addition, I don’t believe that advertising that I am using WordPress is my obligation.

– I think its confusing user experience to allow me to change the email address for EVERY email from within the settings..except for this one email.

– I don’t think its right that thousands of non-technical WP site owners are forced to expose the platform they use to customers, hackers, and competitors.

The fact that the email that can be changed within the settings doesn’t apply to the forgot email ..is strange to the point where it feels blatant, tricky, and shady.

@apedog – I am definitely not going to install a plugin to something so simple. I know PHP well but I should have to add custom code to my functions.php file either…

@jcastaneda – I definitely shouldn’t have to make changes directly to the database on this. However, I am very curious where this email address is saved in the database and why it’s not impacted by the main email address settings?

I actually find that link shocking.

considering most WP users are not coders or comfortable making changes to code I look at this as a blatant disregard of our privacy as well as taking advantage of those that are less technical.

…either by accident or not, it in no way can be justified.

It is not our job as WP users to advertise WP!
