This has been resolved.
Thanks.Cais:
I performed the debug sequences you suggested and now believe it may simply be a past revision of the child theme that is creating the problem, perhaps in the functions.php.
The parent theme worked,as well as,a test site we are developing with TwentySeventeen, with (not all) but similar plugins. We normally use slideshows of a Gallery, but since we are simply trying to display a Gallery with one image, do Basic SinglePic settings have to be set in any particular way?
Thanks.
Thank you, Cais.
I’ll get back to you after I complete your recommendations. Appreciated.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Send (no action) and email not workingTakayuki:
There was an error in the syntax ie: missing backslash “</label>” and also, it seems only the default “admin” email address seems to function. I left it at that.
So new forms are now working. We can close this.

Thanks for your test and confirmation, Stefan.
I am learning but it seems one measure of the elegance of a plugin may be the extent to which the core defaults of WordPress code, the “understood shared commons” are left in place for all other plugins to utilize…or as they say in Kindergarten, “play nice”.
With much gratitude to Cais and photocrati for this ??
Cais:
As mentioned,we are running s2Member as well. Although we are up and running, under NextGen “Other Options” / “Roles and Capabilities”, , if I changed the role to “Administrator” in each category from “s2Member Level 4” that s2Member seems to have defaulted, – I lost NextGen once again.
I have it back after reverting the settings back to “s2Member Level 4” and running Reset but it appears I cannot move away from the “s2Member Level 4” setting in that option.
Perhaps, it is a setting I may adjust in s2Member and I do not wish to pass judgement, but for lack of a better term, beware of membership plugins that hijack the definition of Administrator.
Thank you for this update.
and thank you, Cais!
Stefan, Justin and Cais:
Success!
Following the above targeted code corrections in the appropriate php files our NextGen Gallery plugin has finally returned! – both in our Dashboard and our Posts/Pages menus.
Thanks to you all, – including my excellent Host and server support provider Solubiz, who assisted today.
Justin, thank you for your intervention and support. And Stefan, I don’t think this would have happened without you stepping in. Much appreciated here.
If I read correctly, I should modify both php’s and their referenced lines of code, and then run Reset.
I will test early next week and provide (hopefully) a final update.
Thanks again, to both of you.
LarryStefan:
Thanks, for this. keep me posted. Likewise, I’ll do the same.As mentioned, try the “NextGen Gallery Reset” plugin and pay attention to the Admin roles first and try the tool. Login as Admin, check your roles in Users is set to the (“pure”) Administrator role only and run the Reset plugin under Settings. Let me know if the same php error pops up. I can’t seem to get rid of the “Keymaster” role along side “Administrator”.
Hi Stephan:
The latest I have received from NextGen is try running the plugin NextGen Gallery Reset tool making sure you are logged in as a “pure” Administrator role. We run bbPress and s2Member and it seems to automatically assign the “Keymaster” role along side the “Administrator” role. I previously disabled bbPress to no effect. This “Keymaster” role, was assumed to cause the Reset tool to crash.
NextGen support was in our Dashboard for a few hours with no solution found, as yet.
If I find a solution or receive more suggestions from NextGen I will let you know on this post.
I will try to find a way to remove the “Keymaster” role.Cais:
I deleted then re-installed new. The problem persists. I then tried Reset again, alas,to no avail. I’m not sure what has happened. Here is the same error code I receive running Reset after the new install.
Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_cap() on a non-object in /home/croiseeo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/admin/install.php on line 115
I will be building a new site after importing data from the old site. If the problem persists, it seems my data is somehow corrupted. I don’t know what has happened. I have deactivated all other plugins with no success. It’s unfortunate as I could really use your plugin now, any new posts and pages are not the same without it.
Cais
Unfortunately when I ran NextGen Gallery Reset to set the defaults, this is what I got.
Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_cap() on a non-object in /home/(ourserver)/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/admin/install.php on line 115
Any ideas?
I really like the NextGen Gallery plugin. I’m determined to get it to work. ??
If you have any suggestions, it would be appreciated.
Thanks, Cais.

In reply to: [Document Gallery] Where to put new window short code using ID'sDan:
I eventually tweaked the 10px up to 50px and it’s now a really nice clean/clear separation of documents in our Gallery column while keeping the document description aligned on the side.
Perfect.
Thanks, Dan.
Much appreciated.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Document Gallery] Where to put new window short code using ID'sDan:
By “gap between ID’s”, I mean the vertical gap between the documents in the column. The name of the document is below the image but it’s a bit too tight to the top of separate document below it.
At the same time, I think the description, and it’s positioning, is a real “nice to have” in the gallery. I’m not sure if the better gap is worth giving it up.
I’m rating your work 5 star, either way.
Thanks, Dan.
