In reply to: [Email Users] Default "WordPress adddress in "From" tab to usersThanks Mike.
It’s just not clear where I control the “From” address.
I’ve used the “From sender name overide” and it doesn’t work or it seems to default to “From: “WordPress<my domain>”” in the received email “From” tab.
Unfortunately, (I’ve been told) users probably ignore the email as spam.
Do I need to wait for the change to resolve in the server?
Thanks Mike.

In reply to: [Email Users] Default "WordPress adddress in "From" tab to users….using WordPress 3.92, EmailUsers 4.6.9
I have found a simpler method to removing sidebars on particular pages by using the Sidebar tool in the Dashboard. Settings – Exposure “Singular and Archive”, Handle “Replace Secondary Widget” and Merge Position “Bottom”. The Sidebar tool allows you to assign the Sidebar style to particular pages, clean and easy. The style will then appear in your Widget settings as well for further customization as required.

In reply to: [bbPress] bbPress – ForumTopic page – 404 errorIt was the “qTranslate slug” plug-in by Carlos Sanz Carcia. With that deactivated my Forums now function.

In reply to: [bbPress] bbPress – ForumTopic page – 404 errorStephen. I tried the permalinks re-set to no avail. I’m not sure what the permalink setting was before the move to the new host. I left it on default (how I found it)after I ran the re-set test. As mentioned no change away from the error. From other posts it seems I have some work to do, ie test the effect of all other plug-ins and perhaps inquire with my Host server folks possible problems with htaccess and permalink operation on their servers? Thanks for other suggestions if possible.

In reply to: [Email Users] Multiple copies of post notificationsMike I sent out a test email in debug mode and no addresses were duplicated, only the correct address appeared. Looks good.
One small detail I remember, I used “Notify Users of this Post” from inside the post and set the “group” filter type to “subcribers” on the left then picked 10 or 12 users on the right each time I sent out a notification. I did this about 8-9 times to cover all 100 users or so. (ie set subscribers as group, then pick 10 users) I did not need to set the”subscribers” filter I believe. Is it possible, due to the “subcriber” filter, each email went to all “subscribers” each time? I also believe our host server work going on in the background may also be replicating something. Perhaps, it was just a coincidence just as I posted today, another 8 to 9 emails went out automatically for an older post that were dated Saturday, the day the site opened on the new host server. I’ll consider this a server issue and mark this as resolved for now. Thanks MikeForum: Plugins
In reply to: [Email Users] bbpress, s2Member and Email-User coordinationNo one received the email sent out last night, after working through the steps mentioned above. I’m not confident enough to work with the advanced debugging recommendations. I mostly likely have to concede, Email-Users, bbPress and s2Member are not compatible plug-ins on our WordPress site and revise our design (ie.public blog, private Forums with email capability) and drop the Forums (bbpress and s2Member)idea.

In reply to: [Email Users] bbpress, s2Member and Email-User coordinationHi Mike:
I’ve sent another test email to users tonight after the following:
1.In my Dashboard under Settings/Email Users I set the Email Format to Plain text not HTML after reading up on wp mail().
2. I verified each users settings had “Receive post or page notification emails” and “Recieve emails sent to multiple recipients.”
3. I changed my email address from the ***.org account address on our server, to one I hold off our domain. I believe that email domain name in the Sender may have been causing delivery problems
4.I did a test email and it works fine.
5. I also received a copy of the test email I sent out to 5 “users” on our Board of Directors.
6.On my Dashboard, under “Email Users”/”User Settings” I have 92 items but it’s blank below in the users listing.
7.Users are only listed on my Dashboard under “Users”/”All Users”
8.s2Member under General Options gives the following warningRunning WordPress? with an SMTP mail plugin?
“Please be advised. If you run an SMTP mail plugin with WordPress?, be sure to configure s2Member with a validFrom:
address (i.e. one matching your SMTP configuration perhaps). Most free SMTP servers, such as Gmail? and Yahoo?, require that yourFrom:
header match the email address associated with your account. Please check with your SMTP service provider before attempting to configure plugins like s2Member to use a differentFrom:
address when sending email messages.”I’m not 100% sure if the effects anything but uses our .org admin email address from our domain server.
9. Any new user emails sent out after registration by s2Member are “customized by s2Member” according to that plug-ins settings.
I’m hoping to hear responses back from the users I sent a test email to tonight sometime tomorrow. I’ll let you know.

Unfortunately, the update did not seem to resolve my problem. I believe bbPress and s2Member is overriding the WP users.php file, would that effect email-users functionality? Thanks

I just received your response in my email as I was going through your blog and reading a few similar issues. I read one where you recommend a test of turning off other plugins. As I mentioned, I’m not qualified but is it possible s2Member/bbPress set-up overrides something? I’ll wait for your debug process you just mentioned and again, your work is appreciated . Thanks Mike.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Email Users] bbpress, s2Member and Email-User coordinationHi Mike:
Yes, this was installed a month or so ago, we have the latest version now. I receive a copy of the emails that go out but the recipients never do. It took some separate tests and personal emails to recipients to discover they did not receive them, in junk mail or elsewhere. Is there any way we could schedule a “teamviewer” session or similar and you can see the Dashboard settings of the install on our site? I’m not really qualified to say but there may just be a simple setting I’m missing. I’m fairly new to WordPress. Is it possible to email a pdf of some screen captures of our settings? Thanks Mike, I appreciate your response in your limited time. This is a valuable tool we could really use.

In reply to: [Participants Database] "Participants" and existing WordPress User databasesxnau. Great! I think we’ll be able to use this. I’m talking with our developer about it. As you know, for a “non-profit”, having people come forward with their generosity of time and gifts of ability is always important, we’ll find a way to also make that invitation personal which is also important but now we’ll be able to use the database(s) to help us co-ordinate everyone accordingly. A great tool. I assume I can build various databases for different events, etc. We’ll check it out.
