Thanks for the advise.
In this case Godaddy admitted the missing file was their fault and quickly fixed it. It was an upgrade issue on their end. Once they fixed their issues, all works well.Hi Folks;
I have got my fix re: GoDaddy and the “Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]…..” issue.
When upgrading from a static site to a WP site, we needed to upgrade to the server that has PHP and MySQL, and in the migration process one of the folders did not migrate with the rest of the site. I had a tech support person look into this and the missing folder was found and installed in the proper directory. Once done, every thing work just fine.
I suspect that the missing folder was what was trying to be written to, and with no folder there, no writing was taking place.
This may not be the case for all of you, but it worked for me.
Cheers,
Hi all:
I am currently working on a site for my brother. He has an existing site and wants to upgrade to WordPress with the WP e-commerce plugin. I have read through the above comments and his site is also hosted at GoDaddy.
He insists on keeping this account as he has many other folders for auctions etc. It would be a pain for him to move from GoDaddy now. I prefer Hostgator, flawless so far.
I actually did all the steps too, delete the plugin, re-install it (3 times). At the end of my rope….
I see slashlv’s comments re: GoDaddy’s legacy servers to their new grid for a client. Time to call GoDaddy again. They were not too much help last time.Forum: Themes and Templates

The informal WP class I took was put on by a communications group leader. It was a one day in-house class for out communications group. Sorry, it wasn’t a general public thing. You could definitely see that those who knew HTML / CSS were miles ahead of the others who didn’t. We could fix things as we went along because we understood how the code worked behind the scenes.
Since then, I bought the WordPress for dummies book, lots of tutorials online and the help from this forum.
Hope this helps.Forum: Installing WordPress

In reply to: Upgraded to 3.0Hi, thanks for the speedy reply.
The only plugins are Akismet, countdown timer, NextGEN Gallery and a wunderground.com Weather Sticker, so I can’t see these being any trouble. So far, I am blaming the server and not WP, because I have to sign into the server, then I am good to go.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Brand new to WordPressOh, a tip for you (non-wordpress). I have found it very frustrating and a long painful lesson if your host is using Micro Soft IIS servers. I had to do a site with NO say as to what host we’d use and got stuck using that!
Re: HTML / XHTML & CSS… I went to a local collage for that 10 years ago and had to hand code everything manually in “note pad” of all things. It was a great exercise, one which to this day still reaps rewards.
BTW, WordPress is a global community. For instance I am in eastern Canada. Talk about a global village….Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Brand new to WordPresskjolson,
Fistly, welcome to WP. If you have some previous HTML / XHTML, CSS experience it will help allot. As far as WP itself, I did have some hands on in an informal class which got the ball rolling. I then got the book “WordPress for Dummies” by Lisa Sabin-Wilson and took the time to learn it, which in a good investment in time. For the rest of it, the WP community ie. these forums are a wealth of information. The proof is the amount of responses you just got.
Good Luck.Forum: Themes and Templates
