Right- your logic is sound IF the only thing you use the feed is for feeds that don’t want Mother products. But other feeds do want them- why not allow a switch for those? One prime example is the EBay file exchange, the 3rd largest eCommerce site in the US.
So, since flexibility is part of your advertising, and seems to be a part of your goals with the rules, etc., it would make sense to ENABLE parent/mother feeds when needed (eBay), and turn them off when not (Google). It seems that you have the programming wherewithal to accomplish this quite easily, and it increases the power of your product immensely.
Evidence that this is a wanted item is in your blog; it says you get the question frequently.
I plan on using your product to create CSVs for:
eBay
Wish
Shopify
Google
Bing
Facebook
Amazon
Etsy
OthersMany of those feeds want a parent/mother product. Others don’t. Make it a user choice in the general settings for each feed.
Thanks,
OwenEva- I understand that the focus of your product is on Facebook/Google, but since you can set settings per feed, why not have a switch that enables the exporting of “Mother” products. Example:
Export Variable (Mother) products? (Leave of for Facebook or Google feeds) ON/OFF
Hello Eva- thanks for the explanation and the suggestion.
After some testing, it looks as though your solution of using dynamic attributes will solve this issue for me.
