In reply to: “I thought this’d be simple” – trying to embed a video inHi Philip – yes, a good question but I see that you have already posted on the theme’s support page (which is what I was going to suggest ?? )
It will be interesting to see what they have to say.
@walidmahade – hmmm, not working for me on two test sites.

In reply to: “I thought this’d be simple” – trying to embed a video inUPDATE: All you have to do to get the video the right size is adjust the values in the iframe code; I found that 800px wide and 560px for height gave a full image preview.

In reply to: “I thought this’d be simple” – trying to embed a video inYep, you’re right, the “regular” methods for inserting YT vids don’t work in that theme in that area of the customizer. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way (or in this case, a plugin ?? )
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/insert-pages/
I installed and activated the Insert Pages plugin then created a new page and used the iframe embed code from a YT vid then saved the page; video displayed.
I then placed the shortcode from that plugin into the area you mention and yep, there’s the video ??
[insert page=’vid-test’ display=’content’]
Note that vid-test is the slug for the page I created, Vid Test.
You may have to do some CSS tweaks as those Sections seem to be constrained height-wise, but one thing at a time ??
Cheers!
LyleGenerally, this occurs when you have added something to your content that Elementor cannot properly handle, more often than not, shortcodes added to an incorrect widget.
To recover, you can always click the Back to WP Editor button and your content should be there. Have a look through it and remove any questionable shortcodes, etc.
Cheers!
Lyle@rubymusic – I believe you are going to find that none of the drag and drop page builders are supported on mobile devices. For what it’s worth, you can’t build with Beaver Builder either ??
Cheers!
Lyle@arielk-1 – thank you so much! ??
I have put together a quick screencast to illustrate the issue. I should also note that this is only an Insert Pages issue; WP Show Posts renders properly when the shortcode from it is placed in the Elementor Shortcode widget.
https://www.screencast.com/t/f7DIHif1
Quite simply, the desired effect is to simulate an Elementor “shortcode” (which does not yet exist) using the Insert Pages plugin so as to place Elementor-created content in other areas of the site, be it in a page, post, header, footer, etc. ??
One way to find out if BB works with your theme is to try the free, lite version available on the WP Plugin repo:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/beaver-builder-lite-version/
If that works, then the commercial versions will as well ?? And you don’t need the BB theme; I exclusively now use the GeneratePress theme. Previously, I was a Genesis + Dynamik Website Builder user but I have found GP, especially with their GP Premium Add Ons works better for the type of site I build.
I don’t believe that BB, or anything else, is “built into” any other plugin. It is either compatible or it isn’t ?? Note that it is only the commercial versions of BB that have the shortcode capability that allow one to place content created with BB to be placed into other areas of a site using THEIR shortcode. However, one can easily mimic this behavior with the free, lite version of BB (albeit without all of the commercial modules) using the Insert Pages plugin.
Perhaps take a look at a tutorial I put together showing how to do so using the free version of BB and the GeneratePress theme ??
The Standard BB is only 10.00 more than the Developer Divi, which you would need to get the plugin. I have Divi but have not tried it as I do not relish the shortcodes it generates ??
Points taken Phil, but in the end, BB works without anything special ??
I have been pestering the Elementor folks to get this situation resolved for a long, long time now. What you describe is nothing new, it’s been like this since day one ??
Posted about this issue here in the Elementor Support forum, their GitHUB account and on the Elementor Facebook Group, all to no avail.
Like you, I want to be able to display content that I have laid out with Elementor in other parts of the site using a shortcode, notably, both from the Insert Pages plugin, and more importantly for me, the WP Show Posts plugin. As in your case, any formatting regarding colors, styles, etc. is stripped out of the content and what IS displayed is what one would get should one deactivate Elementor.
I have even tried “shaming” them into fixing this as their BB-iggest competitor in the page builder market, Beaver Builder, handles this with absolutely no problem … what you get is what you would expect ??
Don’t know what else to do or say other than just wait and see if this gets addressed in a future release. In the meantime, if you wan this sort of functionality, use the free, lite version of Beaver Builder! ?? Works a charm ??
Cheers!
Lyle@rics –
Not sure what the issue could be but perhaps take a look at this Elementor article regarding recommended themes:
https://docs.elementor.com/article/78-themes
I use GeneratePress for most of my sites.
Cheers!
LyleIf you want to remove an Element from the Elementor panel, then here is one way that I have tried and seems to work without breaking anything. Keep in mind that you will lose the content of whichever one you remove this way, i.e., if you remove the Image element, there will be no more images displayed that were placed using it.
Open \wp-content\plugins\elementor\includes\widgets-manager.php in a plain text editor and then comment out the line ( add two forward slashes, // ) that contains the element (widget) you wish to not be displayed in the Elementor panel
There may be a “non-destructive” way to do this, but I am unaware of it myself. Also keep in mind that changes made this way will probably be overwritten on updating the plugin.
Cheers!
LyleHi Steve,
I agree that it is not entirely intuitive, but it really quite easy:
– create a new page and insert the Hero UI Kit template
– from the Section tab of the desired Hero Template, click the Save icon, name it and Save
– then on the page where you want it, select Add Template > My Templates and insert the one you just saved ??Cheers!
