In reply to: Is This An Example Of A Spam Link?10 4
I am now somewhat educated on those. I went through and deleted them all.
What ticks me off is when people come and are like hey nice article on a New Iphone, and there site is a site that sells iphones. It seems like free advertising for them at my expense.
Is there no way in the admin cp of this to turn off the URL field so they can’t link to there own sites? or would that not be a good idea

In reply to: Is This An Example Of A Spam Link?I understand.
You said delete the pingback, you mean edit there comment to delete the url? Can I just turn off url’s within the comment form?
Even if they are splogs, isn’t the comment content they are posting on my blog helpful to me? I mean content and activity should be helpful I thought?

In reply to: Is This An Example Of A Spam Link?I’m sorry I know design and some coding, but I don’t know all the diversities and unique stuff of blogs yet. Forgive my ignorance.
What is a splog?
Is it beneficial or hurtful to me, meaning will they keep the link to me, or delete it leaving a link to them from my comment section?

In reply to: Codex Trouble MT Importahhh!!! lol
I figured it out, it uploaded all comments and entries, and categorized them properly, I guess I was hitting the wrong button.

In reply to: Codex Trouble MT ImportNot only that but I logged into the Admin interface of our system, and it says just upload the file from my pc, or put it on my wpcontent/ directory and it will grab it from the FTP itself.
Well I put it in the content/in here not in any specific folder, and that didn’t work. The file size is like 167 MB so it’s too big to do it through my pc Browse button.
So if it’s just as simple now as uploading from the ftp, where do I put the mt_export.txt file in my ftp?

In reply to: CSS Design – Can This Be Done?Oh we have a WordPress, I just realized that I really liked it, and would like to switch the greymatter one to it as well.
My only problem is that I don’t know if we can match that design that we pulled off in greymatter.
As you can tell in comparison to WordPress, there is no side category information shown. It’s more like an Archived Entry with no Tags, Category Lists, Pages, etc, or no sidebar.
Here is our WordPress for our News Section just made the other day:

In reply to: RSS Feeds Of WP – No Line Breaks In Forum PostsMy focus isn’t on the forum it’s on the actual website. The News section of our website is just an extension of the core.
It’s not actually a case that the forum itself is the point, but it is the main congregating area, due to the ease of interaction and the functions it provides. Such as Private Messaging and seeing all the members that are online at any one point.
The reason we have/want a blog is because it’s great for traffic aside from the good content that it allows for us. The other thing is that I’m killing two birds with one stone here. If I can post a blog entry on a news topic and have it auto Import the RSS feed into a forum post, I don’t have to make the post twice.
We have now 3 blogs on our site, one is greymatter which does not have the best functionality.
Movable Type which is riddled with errors, and WordPress now which seems to have all the functionality we need, but of course the VB Importer is not working with it to format the text properly.
I have submitted a bug to vBulletin on this as I think it’s there issue. It’s too bad I cannot combine MT and WP and actually get a blog program to work for this.
Thanks for the response though.

In reply to: RSS Feeds Of WP – No Line Breaks In Forum PostsDoes WordPress just not work with vBulletin? Or is this vBulletin’s Feed Manager having a problem?
Because I don’t understand why it would work with Movable Type and not WordPress.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In reply to: RSS Feeds Of WP – No Line Breaks In Forum PostsHello,
* BUMP *
This fell to page 3 with no response and we really need to know how to fix this or we’ll have to switch blog software for the 3rd time.
Here is an example of what it looks like in a post:
https://www.legionofangels.net/forum/news/2650-testing-rss.html
Obviously you can link to the blog via the more button underneath the text.
This is what it looks like in Movable Type blog using vBulletin’s built in Feed Manager:

So why is WordPress having problems? Where is the normal editor system or wysiwyg?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSS feed cut offNo he meant in our RSS Feed that people can subscribe to and use an importer so that it posts on a forum message board.
He was stating that all you seen was the description and not the full text.
I fixed it for him, had to remove RSS:Description and use RSS: Encoded only.
