In reply to: Adding Podcast drop-down selection on sidebarThat depends on whoever is hosting your website. And unless you have a large amount of space, I would recommend just uploading your episodes to archive: https://archive.org. Once their, you can make an ‘episode’, by posting inside the category you want to be your episode, and at the end of the post, putting the direct link to that episodes mp3 file.
So the steps are:
1. Sign up for an account at https://archive.org
2. Upload an episode (using the instructions at archive.org)
3. Once uploaded, and all of the info has been added, go to the page, right click on the mp3 file, and click on ‘save link location’ (may very between OS and browser, also, it will take a few minutes before it will set up the page for you).
4. Go to your wp dashboard, create a new post.
5. Enter in all of your shownotes.
6. Put a link to the mp3 file location you just got in step 3.
7. Set the category to the name of your show.Good luck. Maybe in the near future, I will actually have a successful podcast. ??

In reply to: Adding Podcast drop-down selection on sidebar1. I would like to know how you are able to get an audience to lsiten to a podcast (I have failed miserably in that department).
2. What you could do, is make a Podcasts category, then you can use the catagories widgit, set it to dropdown, and hiarchy.

In reply to: Changing permalinks causes 404 erros.@xewax I’m looking to be able to get to my links from my own webpage, not google, but thanks anyway. (Or maybe I just mis-interpreted the post).
@shane, I tried it, and it didn’t work. Can I ask what on earth that was supposed to do (and why it’s not put in as part of installing wordpress in the first place). Also, this may be a little OS specific, but why was htaccess in /etc/wordpress rather than in the same place my wordpress install is /var/www/wordpress? Thank you.

In reply to: E Mail not sending passwords.Yes, I believe you need to set up a mail server with your host. It shouldn’t be too hard to do, but it does differ depending on who hosts your wordpress install.

In reply to: From WordPress.com to www.ads-software.comSpeaking of this, (and I’m sorry if this would be considered hijacking a thread), is there an easy way to move all of my media from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com? If I remember correctly, you have to do it manually, which would be a pain to do one at a time. Thank you.

In reply to: From WordPress.com to www.ads-software.comYou will likely get better help if you are more specific. What is sounds like you have now, is that you want someone to just walk you through the steps.

In reply to: Email from wordpress.Well, I thought I remember reading somewhere that you would get your login information emailed to you, however, I was sceptical of that.
So than what is the purpose wordpress has of collecting your email address if it can’t actually mail you anything?
