Ok, so I solved my problem but it kind of looks like a bug to me. I’m not sure it’s related to the theme now, or if it’s an issue with WP overall.

I found and removed <?php get_sidebar(); ?> from my single.php page and now those annoying bits of metadata are gone (thankfully.) Specifically, it’s been showing Archive links along with Admin and Login/Logout links. So I did “fix” my problem, but it begs the following follow up question from me:

I had already gone into the Appearance/Widgets section and removed everything from the Sidebar, depositing them into the “Inactive Widgets” section. I really don’t need or want to use the Sidebar for anything. Isn’t stripping these items out of the Sidebar supposed to remove them from the sidebar(s) entirely? It was still putting them on my comments posting page (via the single.php page.)

I’m fairly new to WordPress so I never would have thought to look on the single.php page, and it would seem to me that removing these items from the Sidebar widget would have really removed them.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Paul,

What you say makes no sense to me. My footer works fine on all pages except for that one page. If I revert back to the original footer, the problem is still there.

Also, I’ve already used my Custom Menu (in fact, the menu you see in my custom footer is actually my custom menu that I placed there.) I’m using a truly custom menu along the top (non-WordPress generated.)

    Thanks for trying!

UPDATE: I now have the “Home” link appearing and properly highlighted as I am using the default grey-opaque menu. What I would like to do at this time is change the name of that “Home” link to something else. In what specific file should I make the change, and what code would I either alter or add in order to customize that initial menu link’s name to something other than “Home”?

    Thank you!

Thank you, govpatel. Is this something new? The old format always worked for me in the past. I just used your new solution and it worked out fine – my Page Template Selector has returned.
