Thank you for the replies. I made this work by:

1) adding the code as indicated above and
2) removing the styling I had in my .css file for the main navigation bar (which I am no longer using).

This is now resolved. Thanks again.

I just answered my own question…the left one is the AlxTabs widget, the right one is the AlxPosts widget.

I fixed it. Had a plugin that caused the problem. Deactivated it and all is well.

Ahhh haaaa !!! You are the best ! It worked perfectly. I just need to tweek the image size and quality; that is an easy fix for me.

And I think I need stronger eyeglasses…

Thanks for your time and assistance, CrouchingBruin. Unfortunately, I cannot get the image to enlarge. I’m stumped. Guess I don’t know enough CSS to figure it out.

Now I’m thinking of finding a plugin that zooms the image on hover. If I can find a simple one that works with the most recent WordPress version.

In case anyone else encounters this same problem…

According to my host company, my domain was in a re-direct loop due to rewrite conditions in my .htaccess file. They have been disabled and all works fine now. Hmmm…not sure why that would happen, my .htaccess file just re-directed the non-www version of my site to the www version.

Resolved.

I think I’ll contact my host co. and see if they can help. What a pain.
