  • Too bad, so sad but Sitemeter had to go. I removed it 4 weeks ago and haven’t had anymore ad redirects. Just thought I’d check in with a progress report.

Same behavior here and same redirect sponsor page. It actually seemed to close my webpage and opened a full page ad for kozyshack pudding with a redirecting countdown and then brought me back to my index page.

I spent some time looking through my index page’s html with Firebug and found that the sitemeter script is huge and guess what was in the code….redirect and kozyshack.

It could be that Sitemeter has a rotten advert in it’s ad rotation because I’ve had Sitemeter for years with no problem. I may send them notice of this.

This has only happened to me 2 or 3 times a week or two apart so I didn’t quite catch it the first time it showed up. It could also be what was slowing down my page when loading.

Thank you for your links and info. I’ll keep an eye on this thread.

    Hi BunkHouseBlues.

Could you please post a link to some of the comments/articles about sitemeter and the adverstitial redirect.

I’m getting this redirect on one of my sites but it’s a static html site. Not WordPress but the same redirects as you all describe.

I thought it might be an embedded video, tweet or possibly sitemeter.

    Thanks.

That’s good news. I had just downloaded the older versions of those two without realizing things were being updated.

There’s no rush. I’m in the learning phase right now. I’m new to WordPress. I’ll be experimenting with everything on WAMPServer.

    Thanks again!

Thanks Andreas. I’m just learning all this stuff so that info helps a lot. I like your themes a lot. Will you be adding Andreas00 for 2.6 as well?

    Thank you. That’s a relief.

When you say, “Upgrades do not bother the theme unless your theme is constructed incorrectly.” I’m guessing that the theme should be XHTML Validated to avoid such problems. Is there anything else I should look for in a theme so I can avoid problems down the line? There are so many WP theme sites, it’s overwhelming sometimes but I want something that looks good too.

I’v looked into a lot of CMS and blog choices and decided on WordPress because of the community support. I really appreciate your response.

I’m looking to switch before my site gets to big. Thanks for your help.

    Lexie
