  • Hi there, I am a novice at WP but I have built two sites in three years and struggled each time and the first one crashed and burned with the WP upgrade last fall. I did a lot of research and I give credit to those that will help someone that is new to WP.

After doing my research and asking several times how to remove all of the images from every page except my Home page in Theme Twenty Sixteen, I never got any response. I kept looking and researching and I finally ran across a blog and I guy asked the same question and I guy replied back with the longest line of code that I have yet to see and said this should resolve your problem. I copied and pasted the code and it eliminated every Image which are large 1280 x 280 on every page except the Home page in Theme 2016.

I am not sure which Theme you are using but from my experience with removing the Images in 2016 I believe it will take more than what I have seen. Again, I am a novice but I turned Theme 2016 into a website, but I can tell you that working anywhere in the Header Area you are going to get some wrap-around issues no one could answer or would not answer. My suggestion is just keep searching and reading and you might just come across what you need. If it took the line of code that I had to use then I would think you will be faced with the same issue.

Thanks for the reply, I am only a novice and I struggled with trying to modify the header more than anything because it will move things around inside of it. I tried so many things and I don’t remember how I got it all done but I am not going to change anything else because it is working. I could never get any help so it was a struggle but having a Child theme will help you a lot.
Sorry I could not be of more help but I spent almost 3 weeks 18 – 24 hrs a day and I am glad it is behind me, I lost my original site using 2013 when 4.7 was pushed automatically without warning. I had to reteach myself Word Press and more this time around, converting a blogging theme into a website is a challenge, my home page with 8 images loads in ~.8 sec so I am happy.
    Good Luck,

Hi there, I am not clear on what you are trying to do but you can look at a site I built and the menu is under the header image. I am just a novice and it it was very difficult but I managed to get it done. You can look at my website and see if this is what you are talking about. smallenginerepairservices.com

That has been about two months ago when 4.7 crashed my 2013 site. I built this one using a child theme which I had to figure out how to change some things in the header. I had managed to add some css to get it too work out.

Hello cse16, well I am a novice myself and just wanted to ask if you ran a Google Page Insights test after you built your sight? It will give you a score and errors that you might have. I myself had to learn a lot of things three years ago and even more since 4.7 wreaked havoc around the world
There are more than one tool available for mobility tests. I just built three Theme 2016 sites only to be crashed by 3 hosting companies due to various reasons, maybe a plugin is causing a conflict.
That is a good thing and a bad thing about WordPress, using any of their themes because they are primarily designed for blogging and to build a website using one can be a challenge.
I have never been able to get help with my issues because what works for one does not work for all, and you can read all of the posts on Theme 2016 and if you are not a WordPress expert then it makes it difficult. Like myself I taught myself WP and used theme 2013 3 years ago and it was not easy but it worked fine until 4.7 came out, then I had to start all over again and I chose Theme 2016 but I had to learn some css in order to accomplish my goal.

Hi, I just updated to twentysixteen and this was the first time to setup a child theme and adding custom css. I added some code to updated the header font size & color and after I did that I bet a large / between my site title and powered by wordpress in the footer. I would like to just correct that or not have a footer. My site is smallenginerepairservices.com
I would appreciate any help because I am a novice and this is the last thing to finish my site after it crashed 3 weeks ago when 4.7 was pushed to me accidentally so I was told.
    Thanks,

PS I am a novice and I can edit and add css code to my style.css file

First off, I would like to say thank you to Nick and Mr Case for their contributions to this post because it has the ability to improve your mobile user score as well. I encountered the same issue and it was impacting my mobile user score by 20 points, it was 99/80 and after I edited my functions.php in my Child Theme my score went to 100/100, but my view-port script was edited by google to meet their new standard. I am a novice at WP but I have been through living hell for almost 3 weeks after 4.7 was accidentally pushed to me by WP Engine. I hope WordPress is addressing the issue because my site is hosted by WP Engine and it took me almost 2 weeks to get their attention but I was plagued with one problem after another until I told them to reverted me back to 4.6.1 using Theme Twenty Sixteen. A manager called me one day and said you have made a big fuss and pointing the finger and I politely told him, I have a play site hosted by Go-Daddy and it happened to a lot of customers so if the responsibility lies on the website owner then you might lose a lot of their customers as well so I was not the only one that was impacted by it. Your business is hosting websites and if you push or force customers to update and it breaks their site then I view it as your problem, loosing customer is lost revenue in my books.
    Thanks very much to all,

WEN Solutions, I just wanted to that your code for removing all of the images from every page except the Home page worked great. I am not a beginner but I updated from 2013 to 2016 and that is one thing I do not like about 2016, it is annoying. It is like going to look at a new house and once you see it then you want to get inside and take a look around. It takes more time to render header images and it is redundant. This is my third website using WP and have always been in a hurry because it is for my business and this time I had more time and learned about creating a child folder which eliminates potential problems with future updates.
I am not a beginner and I am sure there are some experts in WordPress but it is like some of the 3D design programs I have used, there are more ways to do something and I am weak on css & php coding so now that I got my site completed I will read up on css and php because it does make a difference, better than loading your install up with plugins that do not work.
    Thanks for a good post,
    Larry Harrison
