In reply to: Somebody Should Port This Theme To WordPressHi yuh,
just out of curiosity:
You say “origami is one of the “most kicking ass” designs ive ever seen!”.
Can you explain why? I’m probably sitting on my brain this morning ;-), but I find nothing really exciting in that theme, which I’d personally grade as “lower medium run of the mill”.

yes, I mean the little feed buttons.

In reply to: Review Request: Professional Software DevelopmentHi,
if this is for a pro site:
– lose the colored candy-style buttons (they are amateurish)
– lose the advertisement (also amateurish), if then place your own ads there
– lose the header “graphic”, it’s a known one, make your own or ask a pro for a really good logo
– I agree with resiny, make it less wide (90% f.e.)
– use a more pleasing color scheme. Blue isn’t bad, but these blues are too toned down and too diverse. Looks a bit like a swimming pool to me.I like the cleanness and the directness. But don’t forget that space is cheap on the net. With which I want to say that you should add space where people can rest their eyes, or to stress important areas.

In reply to: Which is the best WYSIWYG editor?Hi resiny,
if I grasp this correctly, these are “offline” blogging clients?
I will look into this as a possible solution. This might even be perfect for a totally different blog I had in mind.
However, what I actually meant was a replacement of the in-built online RTE editor in WP. I’m looking for reviews of these:
– ChenPress
– EditorMonkey
– Wysi-Wordpress
– WYSIWYG
– wysiwyg pro
– Xinha
– textileas compared to the current standard RTE editor in WP 2+. I need something which won’t “run away” with the html, is configurable (esp. input buttons) and easy to deal with for a complete (really complete) blogging noob who doesn’t know more than common Word.
I place even more stress on clean insertion of tables into posts and no automatic re-writing.

In reply to: Which is the best WYSIWYG editor?Hi Rok,
yep, I know there are many. Because there are many I’m asking people who favor one or the other to give me the critic they have on the ones they tried out or swear on using. ??

In reply to: Redesign – Comments?Hi again,
I tried a couple of times, and the *fastest* was 5 minutes.
It’s a problem I notice lately invading the net, especially as more and more people on broadband design sites (and software), entirely forgetting that there are a gazillion people out there who still use dialup.
BTW I noticed that WP 2+ is decidedly (!) slower on a dialup than WP 1.5 was.
The total size of all images is 664417 bytes, which is more than half an MB for a front page. I (old-school) design front pages to not (ever) exceed 20-30 kb, images included.
See the speed report here:
https://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/wso.php?url=https://monkeypup.com/
And as so noted by the optimizer, these data do not equal what happens when the net is busy or you’re not on full connection. I’m on a simple (non-ISDN) 56k modem dialup line, no frills included.
Thus five minutes isn’t quite as wondrous a fact as you think ??
There’s lots of room for compression by the way, some of these images have 100+kb. One has even 200+kb.

In reply to: Redesign – Comments? It’s not bad at all ??
Two points of criticism tho:
– the animation
– SLOW loading page (over 5 minutes on dialup)Forum: Plugins
In reply to: List of ALL articles…When you create a page you can choose which template it uses, on the right side of the textarea, maybe you have to click the plus sign.
Whether it creates a link depends on your theme. So possibly yes.

In reply to: Custom ButtonsHi,
it’s early morning and the 800 km highway drive of yesterday still in my bones (and brain)…
I tried to wrap my soggy brains around this and arrive only at being quite a bit puzzled ??
As every pedigree will contain different names, colors, titles and registration numbers, and as there will be some 10,000++ individuals to choose from, I doubt these can be entered in a dropdown menu?
What I’d actually need is a plugin which allows entering values (text) in certain fields which then will write the content into a stylewise and html-wise pre-configured table, which then gets published to a page’s main content. A little bit like a comment.
I also somehow always had trouble with the custom fields, as they applied to all pages/post rather than only specified ones.

In reply to: List of ALL articles…Hi,
You need to place the tag in the archives.php, replacing the ones for archives already there.
Then you create an empty page (just having a title or at most an introductory message) and assign it the template “archives”.
All you need to do then is drop a link to the archives into the sidebar or wherever your nav is.
That is perfectly normal database content. They display just peachy in my notepad++ as Czech chars.
That’s what I get when switching to “show as UTF-8”:
ě????yáíéě????Yáíé????
Just in which way are the chars in the DB “faulty”?
Can you paste a couple in here, your DB version and the correct display version?
