In reply to: [Encounters Lite] Changing the Showcase CSS/Menu ProblemThank you! This works perfectly.
Another question. I installed from the online WP-version of the theme. When I set up child menus under the main top menu, it will show unhighlighted with rounded edges. The moment I go active, it only partially highlights (the rightside curve isn’t) and on the left side there’s an upper “sharp” corner instead of a rounded one.
I suppose some of the CSS or code didn’t fully transmit, because when I check with the version on your site it works fine.
What exactly *should* the relevant CSS be? Is there some code somewhere which might get messed up?

In reply to: [Encounters Lite] Changing the Showcase CSS/Menu ProblemThe lowermost border, yes. The one which is now a full black 8px. Can’t change it.
There are anyway several areas which do not really respond to CSS changes and are hard to figure out.

In reply to: [Encounters Lite] Changing the Showcase CSS/Menu ProblemI tried that, but it doesn’t attach to the showcase-wrapper. I can get it to attach to the showcase item itself, but that’s not what I wanted.

In reply to: [Encounters Lite] Changing the Showcase CSS/Menu ProblemHi flashbuddy!
That worked perfectly! And stupid me has now also found where to set the base colour.
Would it be possible to use that also for the bottom border, the show-case wrapper one? How do I replace the border then to do that?
And thank you so much, you spared me hours of fiddling ??

In reply to: CPanel Backup reinstallation – real troubleHi again,
did some more searching on “cache” and yep – seems to be a large part of the problem, many many thanks to Podz and his WP excellence! This was the thread giving me the right hints:

In reply to: Moved Server and Database and Now the Blog doesn’t Exist?Hi again,

Everything’s there and working just peachy… so far ??

In reply to: Moved Server and Database and Now the Blog doesn’t Exist?Hi again,
yes, all settings and data of the non-DB part of WP including the config are properly set for the new dbase and the new host.
Also, the user of the DB has full rights to the DB, so that’s not the problem here either.
I adjusted – via PHPMyadmin – the URLs to the new URLs, too.
Still I get the “install WP” thingie.

In reply to: Moved Server and Database and Now the Blog doesn’t Exist?Hi,
I have the same problem, same kind of move, and get the install screen.
Before
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘hanna_dax’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘hanna_dax’); // Your MySQL usernameAfter
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘tobi_dax’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘tobi_dax’); // Your MySQL usernameThe config is adjusted, all files have been transmitted and I can’t get the db import to work. Have to say, it’s PHPMyadmin 2.9X and the old way described in the restore help file in codex seems to not be available anymore. With import I see all the tables right there, I adjust the URLs but get old line of no WP installed.
What should I try else?
BTW – same host, different domain (for now)

In reply to: Switching servers – how to?Hi vavroom,
I know that doc. Did it once (okay, it was 2 years ago) and ended up doing a complete new install and populating the dbase manually (by re-writing all posts and comments).
??
That’s why I asked whether someone did that lately and maybe knows a couple of troubles-to-be and quirks.
At least I’m on the right track. The installation is huge, I don’t really want to do it by hand.

In reply to: What have *you* been doing lately?Hi spencerp,
I dunno where you live, but here we have around 35-38 degrees celsius these days with a humidity in the 90+%.
What do I do? Whenever possible I try to stay in deep shade, fill myself with a non-alcoholic version of Mint Julip and keep my feet in buckets of cold water…

In reply to: legal blogging questionHi again,
places like amazon, epinions etc. maybe ask. You don’t know whether or not they do.
If your review is negative you could find yourself at the wrong end of such selfassurance.
Ask for permission or take yourself photos. That’s the only sure way.

In reply to: legal blogging questionHi,
no, you are not allowed to use copyrighted pictures. It’s very much illegal, unless you have the explicit permission of the copyright owner. In the case of brandnames that’s even more strict.
Thus, I’d – at the very least – shoot the photos yourself.
And Google is quite adverse to copyright infringements.

In reply to: Spam getting through security?Currently there seems to be a new wave of spam anyway. My mail servers are just as battered by this.
On the blogs I maintain the combo of BB and Akismet works perfectly.

In reply to: Moshu Please readHi,
actually I don’t see at all where Moshu was rude. He is among the most helpful and patient of all people here and as a mod just and conscientuous, and I’ve been reading his replies now for more than a year.
Maybe you should start your customizations from scratch and check after each modification whether or not your feeds validate. That way you will know what causes the trouble eventually. I’d use the default theme for that, as it is guaranteed to work properly.
And as Moshu already pointed out, this is something YOU can do and without much trouble except for the time you will have to invest.
