Was able to fix #1 via CSS, though this should be easier or not happen for horizontal menus.

The owners of the site wanted something quick, so I tried wptouch, did some modifications and though it was nice. But the site owners want something that looks closer to their site. I guess they can’t have it both ways – it’s either quick and bland, or more time for a better site.

Do you use a plugin for the responsive sites?

Why is responsive CSS better? I was under the impression it would be a lot more work. We have a really larger site (over 300 articles and probably 1000 posts), and the person who would be doing the management of the site isn’t tech savy. They also want it quick – can the responsive CSS be done quickly?

ps – if you know of any articles explaining the benefits and differences, please let me know. What I’ve found hasn’t been that helpful!

Yes, I’m using Yoast and have the xml site map generated. But this only submits to the big three search engines. I agree that this is probably enough, but my client wants submission to all search engines.

The theme is custom, and doesn’t have the drop down in the CSS. Is there somewhere I can find drop down CSS? I’ve looked on the WP site and have not found it.

Now, is there a way to duplicate the widgets settings?

After installing the multisites function, does it explain how to add the additional sites or is there somewhere I can read about that? codex did not go that far.

So I’ll need to set up widgets and menus for each site? is there any way to duplicate the widget settings?

Plugins aren’t a big issue on these sites, its the setting up of the first 9 pages, first blog post, etc. Will all that still need to be done for each individual site?

Did that, and it worked – except that the background for my home page doesn’t show up. The page works fine except when it’s the home page:

When it’s https://www.mysite.com it won’t show the header background.

When it’s https://www.mysite.com/newhome it shows the header background.

I was hoping that changing the permalink would correct this problem!

Is there some setting that i’m missing for the home page?

Thanks, I figured it out. Was not looking for a tutorial on basic formating, was trying to figure out why WP seems to add the bullet automatically in widgets. I did find a work around for it.

In non-WP sites, i have no problem removing the bullet.

Sorry, guess I wasn’t clear on what I’m looking for. I can edit the CSS and php files but am not sure how or where to edit to remove the bullets.

What code or CSS would remove the bullets is what I’m looking for.

deactivated all the plugins and that worked. so now I need to reactivate them one by one…that will take some time.

I had the same problem – a lot of plug ins and a column of images.

If you find a good simple slide show like this one please let me know! I’ve gone through about 10 now with no luck. This one in theory does exactly what I want, it just doesn’t work and author is not around.

I actually solved the problem by putting the wp-paginate.css directly into my style.css
