In reply to: ViewLevel pluginNo dice, Vigna.
When another source does grab the RSS (for example my newsfeed plugin on Trillian) it doesn’t show that there are private posts there, but when you actually go to the RSS feed URI, sure enough it shows plain and clear … even level 10 completely private entries. Granted, it’s only an excerpt, but the point is that if some industrious person wanted to check to see if something private was written, they would know. I’m uncomfortable with that, but I’m not enough of a code monkey to try to fix it myself.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Edit/Disable scrollbarsStupid question… why not simply change the size so that there wouldn’t be a need for a horizontal scrollbar? It just looks like the content is too big. *shrugs and smiles*

In reply to: Finally… Up and Running with WPWell, I’m not an expert with CSS, so if anyone has any idea of how to fix the various problems, I would be happy to listen. I’ve tried tweaking, but have had no success.
Since it’s only a personal journal-ish type thing, I haven’t been overly motivated to fix things.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Grouping archives by yearOops. Nevermind.
*blush*
Whitespace. All better now. Thanks again for this great plugin.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Viewlevel Enhancement plugin*blush* I don’t want to admit it, but I fell prey to the white space issue. I’m reasonably certain that was my issue. as now everything is up and running properly. WHoops… guess I should check little things like white space and typos before posting.

In reply to: Grouping archives by yearMy archives show up beautifully, but now I get errors with logging in, posting comments, writing posts, etc. unless I turn off the plugin.
The errror goes something like this:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/woppat/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/cg_get-archives-by-year.php
I have the same issue with another plugin, which I also have disabled. Any idea of why or how to fix it?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Monthly archives ascending/descendingEr… let’s try that again so there’s actually contact information for me. (I am sillywoppat.) *sigh* ?? If you do find a solution, let me know. I know that there is a way to do this if you use thd dropdown method of the archives, but I haven’t found a suitable solution otherwise. I’m just not familiar enough with WP or PHP to be of any use, myself.

In reply to: ViewLevel pluginThe RSS still shows all posts regardless of what level they are set to, correct?
Sorry, just now noticing this as I rarely make use of my RSS feed, but I’m thinking that sort of defeats the purpose of having “private” or semi private entries since people will still know that something is there and be able to at least read the first few lines of what was written. Is there a way around this?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Viewlevel Enhancement pluginI replaced the “add_action” with “add_filter” without success. I’m still receiving errors whenever I try to add, edit, login, etc. while the plugin is activated. I’m also more than a little disgruntled that in spite of unchecking the box that allows users to publish posts, any registered user may still post and publish to my site. This is not acceptable.
WP is severely lacking in customizing which users have what privileges. I hope future versions of WP focus on that failing.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: User Levels and Comments – thoughtsThe main reason I switched from MT to WP since I couldn’t afford EE was so that I could have some flexibility in who was reading what I wrote. The ViewLevel plugin seemed to immediately solve my issue and give me a world of freedom in writing what I wanted or needed to write while still having some privacy.
The problem is that in doing so, I’m not only offering registered users reading privledges, but also other privledges, such as writing, editing, etc. This is not acceptable.
If there were (is??) a way to change which privledges WP gave to which level users, that would be heaven sent. I have very clearly unchecked the box that says “Any registered member can publish articles” but apparently, that doesn’t mean much of anything since… any registered member can still publish articles. I am not impressed.
*whine* I hate being a newbie. I love the flexibility and functionality of WP but there are certain things I absolutely hate but have no clue on how to fix.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Viewlevel Enhancement pluginI really love this add on (and hope that the two plugins eventually are merged into one) but I seem to have a problem with mine. After saving an entry, I get the following error:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/woppat/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/vlenhance.php:128) in /home/woppat/public_html/blog/wp-admin/post.php on line 146
Everything still “works”… the post is made and properly categorized, but I have to click “back” in order to get back into my WordPress editing and such. Is this just a weird glitch with the plugin or is there something I’ve done incorrectly (somehow??) with the install?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: On this day?If there weren’t any posts in previous years, is there a way for the “On This Day” to either not show or to have a customized message, like “nothing was written” or whatever?
I haven’t really tweaked with this and I’m not entirely sure I have it installed properly yet. I’m mostly just playing to see if I can get it to do what I want. Any advice would be appreciated.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: ViewLevel pluginOh. My. Gosh. This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. I have debated switching over from (another blogging program) but I wasn’t sure that WP would offer me what I wanted. This sealed the deal for me.
Thank you SO much for this. I now can have multiple “protected” categories at different levels so that different level users will be able to access different things. This is absolutely perfect.
Thanks again for this outstanding contribution to WordPress!
