In some way it defeats the point of people registering but its a good idea, thanks for your reply Michael ?? … it would still be nice to allow people to self-register and an admin approves the account before they can do anything, obviously the person registering would receive an email telling them this and then they would receive a second notice when their account is active.

You need to read the documentation available from the wordpress links at the top, it is a whole new blogging platform therefore it is wise to sit down and work out how the existing templates work before working around your own.

It will take time, don’t expect it to be a point-and-click experience.

I too would like to see this opening up. I tried today with a post under my registered name and a post under someone posing as myself, did it make any difference? Did it heck….they were still able to post under my name.

WordPress needs some way of checking its database against registered members before it posts a comment, I mean if a script like cutenews can do this, why can’t wordpress? – Nothing against you guys of course, its like david vs goliath, cutenews can do it, wordpress can’t, there’s something seriously wrong there!

Once you read the tutorial on the maczealot link you can also download a program called YourSQL (do a google search for it) for the macintosh and this will show you a GUI interface for adding databases, tables and custom sql commands. The connection is simple.

You use 127.0.0.1 (for local machine obviously) in the “connection” line
You use the “root” username you made in the maczealot tutorial
You use the password you made in the macealot tutorial

Thats the 3 things you need to do then it will connect into your mysql databases and you’ll be up and running in no time. For best results use the mysql link found on his website as well (use 4.0 rather than 4.1) and when you want to install php on your apache service, download the php package from https://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/ try and download the latest stable release for your apache version.

You should try https://www.lesterchan.net/portfolio/programming.php he has a nice way of being able to email articles to people via a contact form on your website, with a little tweaking you could make a seperate version that would recommend the url of your site and a brief description ??

Its the 6th option down on the page.

I would imagine on this line of the code:

function wpPaginate($paginateAfterNposts = '', $pageNavDivider = ' | ', $paginateHome = FALSE, $briefnavigation = TRUE, $navpad = 6) {

You would change the $navpad = 6 to whatever number you see fit, perhaps 999 if you want to show a list of all your page numbers.

I have not tested this theory but it might work ??

Would really like to see more posts on that website to fill it up a little, the whitespace along with the white theme can be a little distracting ??

I thirdly would like to promote the usage of IImage gallery, I used to use photopress until I discovered there was not a delete function (this is very important) as IImage gallery has the added feature of being able to not only delete the full image, but also the thumbnail and/or/either.

Try both, see which one catches your eye the best, no point going for our word you need to experience both yourself to see which one you would prefer to use.

I would imagine this is something for the user to create? ….. WordPress would supply the backend coding possible to integrate any field you want into a theme/template and the user would make what his eyes see onscreen, I’m sure its not a difficult thing to impliment given time and patience ??

Failing this, I’m sure there is a template “similar” to this available with some colour defects, google a search for “wordpress themes” and you never know, something might turn up to your liking!

There are a lot of different hosts that have no problems at all with installing wordpress for you, try also looking for other hosts (if you dont like the above link) for “Fantastico” installations, this is usually a list of popular scripts that are included as “1-click-installs” with a lot of Cpanel hosting packages on linux, possibly windows but in my experience its always been Linux systems because they support PHP & MySQL better ??
