Below slider in top section there are widgets from WordPress Popular Posts plugin.
In the sidebar there are mostly widgets from the same plugin.

error stating the option does not exist this is strange and looks like not related to theme. In demos there is always slider in use at the top – it just doesn’t “slide” when only one post displayed.

I think you should adjust the settings:
– posts per page
– add/move widgets to proper area (it looks like your sidebar is empty)
Images are displayed as designed. They are shown in full.

Let me know if it doesn’t help.

P.S. Just to clarify – it looks like you are using Penciletto child theme.

Just install and… modify.
And please read the comments in files ??

The other way to have smaller image is to upload image in smaller size or edit/crop in wp-admin area.
