Thank you, everything seems to be working fine now for me too. Appreciate your help!
Doesn’t look like anyone at JetPack is very interested in helping us, does it. Very disappointing. The software bugs us to add pricey features but when someone needs help they can’t be bothered.
Does JetPack actually respond to these? Is there somewhere else to go to for help?

In reply to: Can’t add images to postsMy engineer, diagnostics-oriented husband solved this for me! I had put a “no-ads” google shortcode at the beginning of this post, which of course I don’t see in the Visual version of the post, only in the code tab. So when I went to the code tab and removed the Google ad shortcode, the image inserted just fine. And the site displays the page as it should.
My excuse is that I’ve got some kind of flu bug and thinking straight, a challenge at the best of times, is pretty much screwed up right now.
Sorry to bother, thanks for your time. Happy New Year ??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Site’s search function returns different results between devices?Huh, that’s what I’d expect too but don’t have an iphone to test it. Wonder what she did different to get the result she did. Oh well, many thanks for checking it out! Much appreciated.

In reply to: Site’s search function returns different results between devices?https://tanglepatterns.com – search box in upper right side of pages in the header area.
The example she gave was “string 060”

In reply to: REQUEST for support for iPad (and other) emojisMy site started eight years ago (2010), so “upgrading repeatedly” definitely applies. Guess I’ll just accept that emojis don’t work and edit them out as needed. Haven’t used the Health Check plugin, will put it on my “to do” list! Many thanks for your help.

In reply to: REQUEST for support for iPad (and other) emojisHi there, usually I edit them out but here’s a recent one I forgot to do:

Emojis from other devices always show up as question marks. My own display correctly because I’m using my desktop browser and type in the punctuation, the old fashioned way ??
The theme is Atahualpa 3.7.24.
Appreciate your time …Thanks Asad, that fixed the problem though it’s odd that it’s worked the other way all these years. Appreciate your time and assistance, cheers and have a great day.
Thanks, appreciate your input but these are way than what I need.
I simply link to the PDFs I have on my server from a page or post and people can download it free. This has worked fine for a good 7 years so IF I don’t open old pages/posts I’m fine.
I’ve figured a work around but it’s not very elegant. If I switch to the code view (Text tab) of a page or post, I can remove the code that is added automatically (rel=”noopener noreferrer”) and save the page/post. Then leave the page/post without switching back to the Visual tab, the code is effectively removed.
However when you have a page/post with dozens of download links on it, it is a real waste of time having to edit out all the automatically-added code every time I want to add something new to the page (or even just LOOK at it!).

In reply to: How to get rid of extra code added when saving postsThanks both for your suggestions.
The site in question is way too busy to change to another theme even temporarily, but the Pinterest thought caught my attention because I recalled seeing its symbol when the mouse moved over an image in the editor.
I do not ever recall adding anything to do with Pinterest but I checked out my Firefox addins and much to my surprise found a plugin for it. When I removed that and restarted my browser, the issue went away.
So thanks again for the detective work and a successful conclusion. Most appreciated!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Subscribe To Comments Reloaded] Keeping active subscriptions while upgradingThank you, that is the version I’ve downloaded.
I’ve deactivated the plugin by FTP renaming the folder – should I also delete that renamed folder BEFORE uploading the above zip file?
Appreciate your time and help!

In reply to: Can't add hotlinks in postsThanks for the replies, I’m not sure how a plugin problem would suddenly manifest when I’ve used the same ones for ever, and have not updated anything recently. Both browsers are current.
For me the link icon is not grayed out, it simply doesn’t “take”. When I continued working on it yesterday I discovered that the problem is only when I’m working in a table. It doesn’t even let me insert an image in a cell, I can go through the whole procedure and when I’m done and it reverts to the editing screen, the image is placed above the table. So no links and no images within the table.
Fortunately I’m from the generation of folks who had to hand code html so I am able to get around this until I can sort it out. But it’s a pain.
I’ll continue to experiment …

In reply to: How to "undo" email addresses accidentally marked as SpamDidn’t realize that and I do use Akismet, thanks James. I get thousands of spam comments every day and I hate to back up my db with all that cr*p in it so that’s why I use the plugin. There should be a law against comment spam!
