Umm.. when you install wordpress you have to choose your admin user, whether you set that to be a username “admin” or soemthing else is up to you.. So you DID create your own user, and you have to just log in to your admin side yourdomain.com/wp-admin and then just click ADD NEW POST

If you want to change the name of the admin user, you just go to USERS and edit the one you want.

No reason to get pissed though, this is very simple, so its not a NERD thing.. its a stupid thing on your part

you have to go into your control panel and see if you have one. It would be in the public_html folder or httpdocs

Time to either hire a developer or spend some more time searching for the write theme..

Its one of those things, you can’t expect to get exactly what you want for free – it rarely ever happens..

What is it about that first theme that you love?? I see nothing extra-ordinary about it and seems that jsut about any dark, two column theme will work for what you want.. then you can just install a category drop down menu addon

Now.. to your question as to how they made it seemless… thats the work of a developer. Its nothing short of a basic website design, but basically you pick what you want to design first – the blog or the home page..

If you design the blog first, then you go through and strip out all the unnessecary code and create a basic HTML source code for your front end and keep the style sheet.. thats the reason people push CSS layouts, because the content and the styling are separate

Or you create the HTML page first and use the css from that to work into the blog..

Either way, its something that I have done for people many times, but it does require a good deal of knowledge with code.

yes.. it is VERY easy to change any picture on any theme. Theres a “newbie” friendly way to do it and then the “correct” way to do it..

the “correct” way, or the way that most developers would have done it would be to save their image with whatever name fits and then upload the image to their server. Then they would go into the code and replace the old file name with the new one

My guess is you dont even want to consider going itno the code

ok. so no matter what I will be using the RSS feed?? I would think that I could pull directly form the database.. but using a feed is ok with me as well.

Still.. even though these are very helpful posts that point me in an easier direction, are there any tutorials out there that teach you the best practices for this?? I know it can be done, just looking on the way that people have done it. ‘

I will check out that plugin as well.. I’d like to test it, but generally I would prefer to not use plugins as a lot of the coding is not as clean as i’d like it.

something is happening where the cookie or session ID is not working. Do you have your browser set to not accept cookies?
