Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardI use Softaculous for clean installs so I don’t have to be bothered with perms and such. What if the problem is in the database? Won’t that just pass the problem along?

In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardIt failed at step 9 of the set of instructions for existing server. I had an issue at step 7 due to permissions. I SSHed into the server and changed the group and owner to the correct name and proceeded to step 8. I am the administrator. I am the only user. The move was complete before the 500 error and the 500 error was a Linux issue, not a WordPress one.

In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardI fixed the 500 error. That’s not an issue anymore. Trying to access wp-admin just takes me back to the home page. wp-login.php lets me log in, takes me back to the home page and I still can’t access the dashboard. I’m the only user and I am the admin. If I click dashboard from the toolbar at the top, it just reroutes me to the home page.
Excuse me for being a bit frustrated at this point but I really feel like I’m repeating myself over and over again with each post.

In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardI did follow the link and those are the steps I followed to move it. I only followed the other steps in changing the site URL after I had issues with the 500 error. I can login at that link but I still can’t access the dashboard.
I’m really not sure what else I can tell you that I haven’t said already.

In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardOk so I guess I will say again exactly what I did….
I changed folders from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com.
I FTP the files to the folder and had the chown the files to the right user and group to get rid of the 500 error.
I changed the site url and the home url in the wp_options table database from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com.
I changed the wp_posts from test.llcmetaverse.com to llcmetaverse.com
I added update options for the site url and the home url in both functions.php and wp-config.php
I have deleted, used black, and modified htaccess files.
I have removed plugins that could suppressed the admin such as White Label CMS.
This is everything I have done so far. I’m not sure what else to say but I kinda feel like I’m repeating myself in every response.

In reply to: Cannot Access DashboardYes, that’s why I don’t see why it’s not working. I tried everything as I stated in the initial post.

In reply to: Widget Issue with Custom MenuThat worked perfectly. Thank you for the help!
I normally do that but I got trapped in how pretty it looked and updated a few of my 30 or so installs and now I’m regretting it but this particular install I can’t rollback at the moment so…. ??
Any solutions to this other than going back to another version of WP?

In reply to: 404 Error on Self Hosted InstallI meant to say folder but I think my issue is that this is a Windows Server. I found that out this morning. I’m waiting on some IIS information at the moment.

In reply to: 404 Error on Self Hosted InstallWhen you unpack the zip file there is only one file to upload. I can get to the readme file just fine so its in the right directory. I’m not sure what convincing you need. I’m not a novice to wordpress installs but I don’t know the server setup since I don’t have network access nor root access at my company.

In reply to: 404 Error on Self Hosted InstallI’m not completely sure about the host for the username. There is one host listed in the configs of the other installs on the same server but since I had to create this one, I’m not entirely sure it is correct. I have it set to localhost at the moment.

In reply to: Unable to access the: wp-admin/install.php linkI’m having the same issue but all the threads don’t seem to have a real solution to this.
