In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderBoy is this bit of news about the malicious code disturbing…I’ll review the links when I can get a chance. Marv, does the fix I applied earlier take care of vulnerability like this or is there something else I should do? I don’t have the in-depth knowledge to deal with something like this. I haven’t noticed any problems with it.
Aspen, please come back and share anything you discover that’s useful with these themes.
Thanks!

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderThanks again for your help – stickin’ with what I have on the slider for now. I might just tackle this later on though… ??

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderGot it that time…it was my fault. Last time I didn’t update that footer file – I missed that part.
I can live with what I have now as far as the slider goes, I sure don’t want to change the theme again…just trying to get it to somewhat match the shopify store theme I just purchased.
Thanks again for the help – so much appreciated.

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderWhile I’m at it: is there a way to just make that color text box on the slider be gone and have the pictures take all of that space or is that a big thing to change? I’d just as soon have just rotating images there that are click-able as they are now without the text box …

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderThanks! The background is fixed now.
But, getting rid of the footer ads didn’t work out…it went kurflewy.
I tried replacing things as you say here and I also tried just deleting all of it (leaving the Prelude.php file in place, just empty. It jacked up the whole front page so I put that file back. It doesn’t look like what you have here. Here is what is in there:

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderFound this in a file called layout.css
/* = layout.css
————————————————— */
div#container {
background: transparent url(‘../images/bg-body.gif’) left top;
}/* = Columnization
————————————————— */Is this the background file I want – what does transparent url mean? Am I safe just uploading an image and replacing the filename here? How can I make it just plain white?
One more question: where might this author have hidden the url and text that links in the footer? I can’t find it – it’s not in the footer.php file in the dashboard and I didn’t find it looking at the theme files in Hostgator in the footer either. I would rather link it to their theme site, not the “over 60 dating” thing they have in there ??
All the help is deeply appreciated…now it’s off to bed and up early for the “day job”

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderYippee, that worked on the slider..
sifting for the background image – but at least I have hope now ??

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderOkay, now I’m starting to see the things you mentioned ??
Is this the color reference for the slider I need to change? It’s just a little different than you have but the only place I see that color reference…I’m hoping all I have to do here is just find my color code and put it there ??
}
div#slideshow .item .meta {
width: 255px;
float: right;
right: 0;
padding: 25px 20px 0;
height: 248px;
background: #ff6e00 none;
height: <?php echo PADD_GALL_THUMB_H ?>px;Still hunting the background stuff but the orange in the slider is a bigger problem than that background. Ugh
Thanks again!!

In reply to: Changing Theme Background & Color on Image SliderThanks so much for the detailed answer but I don’t see any of these things in the stylesheet. I’ve edited backgrounds in the past, this theme seems to be a lot different…I took a couple of screenshots, here they are…
https://whiteoakattic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Stylesheet.png
https://whiteoakattic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/theme_image_2.png
These are from the Appearance>Editor section of the dashboard. I use Hostgator and tried looking around there in the themes files. I did see an image labeled bg-body.gif. What if I just replace that file with an image of the same name but an image of my choice. Would that work?
I never found where to change that slider.
Thanks for any additional tips you can share – I have also contacted the creator of the theme but no luck so far.

In reply to: Customizing template – background, slider, fontsI have to leave right now but I’ll explore this when I get back tonight. I don’t see any reference to the background in the appearance sub menu.
I did however just receive an email from the theme developer – it looks detailed…I’ll see what happens next when I have time to try it out tonight (darn it I wish I didn’t have to go now).
Thanks for your help…

In reply to: [WP Nivo Slider] [Plugin: WP Nivo Slider] Doesnt seem to work in IE8?Here’s the workaround I received:
open the file
jquery.nivo.css
(it’s in the public_html/wp-content/themes/potassiumific/css folder)
at the top of the page you’ll see the code:
#slideshow img {
position:absolute;
top:0px;
left:0px;
display:none;
}
you just need to change display:none to display:block and it should fix it.
you’ll need to access the file using FTP as it is not editable via the WP admin area.This worked beautifully for me – but again, I wasn’t using the plugin so not sure if it plays out the same using it or not. I love my theme now after getting this little problem fixed, after years of struggling with the look of the site I have finally been able to focus on content and fine tuning.

In reply to: Problem displaying blog postsThanks!! That worked, in between finding your comment and my original post I heard from the theme support and they said it won’t display the blog posts in this first window ?? So double Yippee!!

In reply to: Looking for an eCommerce Solution – Shopp is a BustI took Shopp off my site and have switched to Shopify (installed it on a subdomain of the my WordPress blog site. This is working much better for the non-developer like me who is just looking for a means to an end, not to spend all of their time trying to fix something or entering products (no means to import them into Shopp). For what you would pay to have Shopp customized, and the hours and hours to load products you might as well use something like Shopify – much easier on the wallet.
Maybe I’ll revisit shopp down the line if they perk it up quite a bit but leaving it alone for now.
