    Well, that’s a relief because at this juncture, overlay is the only option I have!! Thank you so much for taking the time and having the patience to help me!! ??

    Yes, I think overlay is the default since it’s the first one. However, since the other window options are not working properly, I will keep the overlay, the only question being, will popup blockers block the overlay? if that is the case, I need to reconsider.

    Thank you SO much for all of that! I went to change it and the only one that works is the overlay. ALL of the other options do the same thing – listing the results under the search bar (which I keep on the right side of the page) in a column that goes to the bottom, which is so odd. It must be my old theme (twenty-ten) which I haven’t changed because of layout issues.

    UPDATE!! I got rid of the WP Google Search plugin and instead pasted the programmable search bar code into a widget. It works! However, the results appear in a popup window. Is there any way to change that?

    Thank you for your response! That said, I went to my Google control panel and it only shows the old search engine, but when I click get code, it shows it can only be pasted into the body on my site. I have it in the widgets since I keep it in the column on the right side. However, since I need an updated one, do you know where I can get that? I can’t find the option in my control panel. :/

    EDIT – I installed the new programmable search engine using this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3Dn6rSpxdY) and followed all the steps. Now when not logged in, I get this on my site..

    Thank you so much for your response! That said, IIRC I got the google search option through my google adsense page, and just copied the code into a widget. The theme I am using is Twenty-Ten, but since I do not update the blog anymore, other than back end plug-ins, I haven’t really kept up until I noticed the searches were doing that when looking for an old recipe on my site.

    I tried to find some google forums, but my posts kept getting labeled as feedback instead of a support question to start a thread. Anywhere you could recommend/link?

    Hi, there! Thank you for responding and all the helpful information. It turns out it must be due to an SSL problem because when I go to edit posts, it shows as ‘Not Secure’. I installed Real Simple SSL and used that, but the edit post area is still showing as ‘not secure’ in the URL, even though I can now update posts.

    I also noticed the posts I cannot update after editing are the ones I used the Google Search bar on my site to find. When I click on a post from the results, I cannot update any post after editing! So strange! This never happened before the migration.

    Hi, PA! Thank you for all of your help! That said, I found a solution without a plugin, and I’m going to post it here so others with the same issue can use it. At the end of the code for the photo, remove the > and enter

    onContextMenu=”return false;”>

    That’s it; worked perfectly!

    Thank you, PA. But is there any way I can do this without a plugin? And also, if I do use this plugin, where do I find the “Scripts in the Header” text box? I know where the header.php is, but not that.

    By the way, I use iThemes and Cloudflare (rocket loader not enabled) with Wordfence, but didn’t seem to have any issues with the twenty-ten theme, just the SoSimple theme.

    Hi, Matt – thank you for your response and Happy New Year! The author of the plugin had me send him a list of all of my plugins, then made changes to his theme to work with all of them, including Wordfence. I haven’t installed and activated it yet due to attacks on my blog that started New Years Day, but I will let you know how it turns out once everything is resolved.

    Hi, fervillz, Happy New Year. I downloaded the zip, but I won’t be able to install and activate for a few days because there’s an issue that needs to resolved on my blog. I will get back to you (and donate) as soon as I install and activate it and see if everything is working plugin wise ??

    Hi, fervillz. I sent you the list of plugins. The only other theme I used with all of these plugins was twenty-ten, and all of the plugins in the list worked.

    Thank you so much for helping me ??

    But how do I remove the tags under the home page excerpts? Also, it turns out that your theme is conflicting with Wordfence Live traffic and blocked IPs (won’t load), and a few Jetpack options like related posts. Is there a way this can be fixed?
