Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, fervillz, but it’s still not syncing with my ‘MORE’ (continue reading) cut off. My ‘MORE’ is inserted a few sentences under the top photo of each post, but I’m my excerpt is still showing as just a few lines of text with ellipses (…) instead of a continue reading link.

fervillz, I just realized; all you have to do is make your beautiful theme work with the wordpress “more” option in the editor window, so we can choose where our excerpts cut off with a read more or continue reading link, which comes with the more option. Whenever I try a new theme, the front page excerpts always cut off where I placed the “more” line. ??

If you could also add a read more or continue reading link, that would be great, since I have all my posts set up with the ‘more’ option in the wordpress editing window, but it doesn’t work on your current excerpts. For now, I had to go back to twenty-ten to get the whole photo on each excerpt and the continue reading link, but I will immediately activate yours once it’s updated. ??

Hi, Justin, and thank you so much. I do update every plugin when the alerts come through, but yes, I need so much done. I wish I could find someone to do it for (for hire) because I’m technically challenged and would have no idea where to start and would probably mess everything up.

That said, I use Bluehost and paid to have sitelock with a firewall (the expensive one) placed on my site. However, the hits to my home page are still coming in hard and fast.

Can you recommend a service to help?

Hi, James. Thank you so much for responding. I set Cloud Flare to High instead of Under Attack, and it seems to be working with no conflicts on my site, thus far. However, I’m thinking they keep getting in through my theme (which is probably why it changes to another theme during the hit attacks – 1.7 million on Thursday!), which is very old and hasn’t been updated in about 5 years.

I just need to find a free WP theme with a layout like mine so everything stays as is when activated, but my ‘preview themes’ doesn’t work, so I’m in limbo.

With all that said, I’m looking forward to digging into the links you posted (Thank you SO much) and doing everything I can to get rid of the hacking creeps.

It looks like the hits have just about stopped, but I’m afraid to set Cloud Fare to anything less than attack mode because whomever did this was also able to remove my theme and header, so I don’t think it was just some bot attack. However, is there somewhere in Cloud Fare where I can see where the attacks came from? I’ve been on hold with Bluehost for over an hour *sigh*.

Speaking of Cloud Flare, my URL’s are all messed up (links to me from other sites don’t match up and show errors…photos broken etc). They said I need to let Cloud Flare propagate, but even Vault Press can’t continue to back up my blog due to the URL mess. ??

Hi, Justin. Yes, that is the first thing they did, activate Cloud Fare. They had me set it to medium, but I just noticed it’s been changed to “I’m Under Attack!”, which I suppose they did since they’re currently cleaning out malicious code on my site and must have noticed it continuing. However, the hits are still coming fast, so I’m hoping they’ll do something if Cloud Fare doesn’t stop it. \

That said, do you know what kind of attack this is? Is DDoS what it’s called?

lorbach – first off, thank you. I aded nothing new and no updates either. It just started up again, right after I posted here (could someone have hacked into it?) but from the same number it stopped at, so no clue as to how many views in between. I just noticed it’s moving much slower than usual.
