To answer my own question it is in header.php, which is where I thought it should have been from the beginning. Don’t know how I missed it looking earlier. ??

There is no logo right now. When I add a logo using the customizer it only allows me to select a file from the media library. After I make a child theme, what do I have to edit to add an external logo (for example if the logo was located at xx/themes/twentysixteen-child/images/logo.png)? Sorry, I am quite new at this and reading the documentation made me more confused.
