Hello! Skyler from the Livefyre team here. Sorry we didn’t respond sooner – were you able to find out more information about this feature?

If not, the functionality you’re referring to is the “Social Sync” feature originally built into Livefyre Comments. Social Sync works with public Twitter conversations and public comments left on Facebook Pages (not Facebook Groups).

Unfortunately, the restrictions there (only pulling in public content, only having access to Pages instead of Groups) involve API restrictions on those social networks, so some aspects of Social Sync are outside our control.

Because of this, Social Sync does not work with Facebook Group threads, and there are no plans to support this functionality at the moment.

    Hope this helps clarify!

Hi there! Were you able to find out more information?

If not, this plugin replaces the default comments section on your WordPress blog with Livefyre’s commenting solution (called Livefyre Comments ??

In case you didn’t find more information about Livefyre Comments on our site, here’s our page explaining all the features in Livefyre Comments: https://web.livefyre.com/comments/

Hope this helps clarify! If you have specific questions about your particular blog setup, feel free to reach out to support[at]livefyre[dot]com anytime.

Hi! Skyler from the Livefyre team here. Thanks for reaching out.

We’ve recently launched the “Livefyre Apps” free plugin. It contains the latest updates for Livefyre Comments and versions of WordPress, and will continue getting development resources moving forward. You can find it here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/livefyre-apps/

This older, standalone Livefyre Comments plugin isn’t receiving updates for the time being, so may encounter issues with some newer versions of WordPress. Info and FAQs about the new Livefyre Apps plugin can be found on its page, but feel free to contact Support via support[at]livefyre[dot]com with any in-depth questions about switching to our latest plugin on a specific integration.

Hope this helps clarify, and thanks again.

Hi! Skyler from the Livefyre team here. Thanks for reaching out about this.

Yes, the Livefyre Comments plugin is safe for old and new comments coming into your WordPress blog:

    – For old comments, the plugin has an option to export the wordpress database data and display them as Livefyre comments

    – Though new comments coming in are displayed via the Livefyre plugin, they’ll also still be recorded to the WordPress database. This means that even if Livefyre is disabled in the future, the comment data will still be available to display.

PLEASE NOTE that the latest version of Livefyre Comments is now found in our new, free “Livefyre Apps” plugin here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/livefyre-apps/

It is recommended that anyone wishing to try or switch to Livefyre Comments use that. The messaging on this older “Livefyre Comments” standalone plugin will be updated to reflect this in the future.

If having any issues with setup or specific questions about your particular integration, please feel free to contact support[at]livefyre[dot]com anytime.

    Thanks again

Hello. Thanks for the followups here.

This issue has been solved for the free Livefyre Comments solution we offer for WordPress. However, the latest version of comments now lives in the “Livefyre Apps” plugin available here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/livefyre-apps/

^this plugin contains all free Livefyre options, though Comments can still be used alone with it. The Livefyre Apps plugin allows Livefyre to keep all of its options in one place rather than continuing to release multiple plugins over time. It’s recommended that blogs switch to the free Livefyre Apps plugin moving forward.

The messaging on our older, standalone Livefyre Comments plugin will eventually be updated to reflect this change and notify plugin users.

Hope this helps clarify. If not, additional information and FAQs can be found on the Livefyre Apps plugin page, or the Support team can always be contacted directly for in-depth questions relating to a specific setup via support[at]livefyre[dot]com

    Thanks again!

Hi Heather. Skyler from the Livefyre team here. Sorry we didn’t catch your question earlier!

And further apologies for any miscommunication on our end. The latest version of Livefyre’s free apps for WordPress users (including Livefyre Comments) now lives in our recently-launched “Livefyre Apps” plugin, available here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/livefyre-apps/

We’ll be working to keep the Livefyre Apps plugin compatible with the most recent versions of WordPress from now on, and you should see some updated messaging go out for Livefyre Comments 3 in the near future.

Hope this helps clarify! If you have any in-depth questions about a specific setup, feel free to contact our support team via support[at]livefyre[dot]com as well.

Hi there! I’m Skyler, one of the members of the Livefyre team.

Were you able to get your comment import to go through after posting this? It’s true that the plugin has default functionality to help with comment imports, but exceptionally large comment libraries can sometimes “time out” during the process.

If that’s the case for you still, try reaching out to support[at]livefyre[dot]com any time — it’s possible the Support staff can assist with completing the comments import manually.

Hope this helps clarify, and thanks for reaching out!

Hi there. Skyler from the Livefyre team here.

While this is investigated, we actually recommend using Livefyre’s latest free WordPress plugin, “Livefyre Apps.” Here’s the link:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/livefyre-apps/

That app combines the functionality of all Livefyre’s individual plugins, and currently contains the latest code for Livefyre Comments in it. While we may push updates or fixes for older Livefyre plugins (including this Livefyre Comments 3 plugin) for the time being, eventually all plugin support and resources will be going towards this new Livefyre Apps plugin. The copy and explanations seen on other Livefyre plugins should be updated shortly to reflect this.

Just to clarify for anyone who hasn’t seen the Livefyre Apps description, that app is free, and all functionality in it is completely optional. This means anyone seeking to use Livefyre Comments alone can still do this and not have to activate or use other Livefyre apps if wanted.

Hope this helps clarify, and apologies for any inconvenience while we transition to one main Livefyre plugin. As always, if the team can help with any questions or issues you might have with your specific integration, feel free to reach out via [email protected]

    Thanks!

Hi there! Skyler from the Livefyre team here. If still seeing issues, we’d recommend reaching out to the Support team via support[at]livefyre[dot]com. They can maybe take an in-depth look at any conflicts and/or suggest troubleshooting tips given a bit more info, since we don’t seem to be hearing about this issue elsewhere at the moment.

Hope that helps, and sorry for any temporary issues!

Hi Marcus. Skyler from the Livefyre team here.

We’d actually need to look a few other things to determine what’s needed here. If you haven’t already, mind emailing support[at]livefyre[dot]com? The team there can hopefully make any needed CSS changes (or explain any other conflicts that might be happening).

Hope this helps clarify, and thanks for reaching out!

    Hi Russ

Sorry to hear about the issues! It isn’t clear if this is something bigger affecting the Livefyre network at the moment. If possible (and you haven’t already), can you contact [email protected] with a bit more info? The Support team can gather any details they’d need to provide an in-depth investigation for you there to try and help with your setup and/or look into anything similar happening on the Livefyre network.

Thanks so much for reaching out if that’s doable. Looking forward to having the team provide any additional assistance if needed, and apologies again for any temporary inconvenience.

    Hi there

Really sorry to hear about the site issues! This isn’t something we seem to be hearing about on other plugin installs, but if still seeing this issue (or you’d like to pass on some specific info about your site’s experience), the Livefyre team would be happy to help in any way possible via [email protected]

We appreciate the feedback and trying out Livefyre Apps – looking forward to helping out further if possible!

Hi Owen. Thanks for reaching out about this.

It definitely sounds like something in the blog’s theme could be interfering with Sidenotes’ CSS. Unfortunately we don’t have specific suggestions for fixing that here, but if still seeing this (or other CSS issues in the future), feel free to email [email protected] any time. Our Support staff can try to provide some in-depth troubleshooting and specific CSS suggestions for any display issues there.

As for the Sidenotes explainer, we’re afraid this is required at the moment for all free installations of Sidenotes. Only Livefyre’s Enterprise customers currently have access to the options for customizing or removing aspects of Sidenotes.

The explainer for the Sidenotes symbol was included as part of the product launch, as annotation-style comments weren’t found on very many websites or services. We understand the question though, so this is great feedback as a feature request for the product team – thanks!

Hope this helps clarify, and looking forward to our Support staff providing more help if possible.

Hi! If you’re still seeing this, it’s likely some of the theme or custom CSS on the page is interfering with how the comment widget is styled.

If you haven’t already, try reaching out to support[at]livefyre[dot]com with a bit more info — it’s very likely the Support team can provide the exact steps you can use to fix this.

    Hope this helps clarify!

Hello! Thanks for all the details here.

We don’t seem to be hearing additional reports of this from other WordPress setups, nor can we reproduce it on the test setups here we’re afraid.

If you haven’t already, can you send a quick message to support[at]storify[dot]com? It’s possible the Support team can look into things like your WP setup’s theme or other areas to try and troubleshoot directly.

Thanks again, and sorry for any inconvenience here!
