@bbrowne It was resolved with the help of a support person with my web hosting company. I think my security settings for iThemes Security were too high. After a few bad logins, it locks you out. After a few more, it locks out your IP! So it took some tinkering on the backend to undo the lockout. If you have this plugin, it could be the culprit.

In reply to: [Atahualpa] Category menu overlaps horizontal barSomehow I missed that CSS inserts place but, yes, brilliant! It worked! Thank you!

In reply to: [Atahualpa] Category menu overlaps horizontal barThank you but I don’t understand. Add `div#imagecontainer-pre {height: 160px;}’ to where? I tried in several places to no avail.
Also (maybe related?) in Configure Header Area, my specification is %logo %pages %image %cats but I still have a %bar1 and a %bar2 on my page. If I change my specification to %logo %pages %bar1 %image %bar2 %cats, I end up with four bars — two on top and two on bottom. They’re easy to see because one set is black and the other set is charcoal, and one set is a few pixels below the other.

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Backup WordPress set to weekly but backs up every dayI was hoping this was fixed but, even though I corrected my schedule settings to back up the site once a week, I’m still getting an email with a site database backup file every day. I’m using version 3.0.4. Anyone else having this problem?

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Backup WordPress set to weekly but backs up every dayCuvelier, I have a feeling that will do it. I never realized I had three active schedules in there. I did what you suggested and now I have just one set to weekly. Merci beaucoup!

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Backup WordPress set to weekly but backs up every dayUp to this morning, with version 3.0.3, I was still getting daily emails. But just now, I saw your 3.0.4 become available, so I updated to it. Let’s see what happens.
I also just updated to WP 4.0.1.
Will report back in a few days.

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Backup WordPress set to weekly but backs up every dayI just now updated to 3.0.3. Let’s give it a week and see what happens.
Btw — and I never noticed this before today — if I look in my control panel at the list of backups completed, it lists them as having been done every week. But I’ve been getting the two emails (one saying files have been changed and the other with a zip file I can save) every day. Are these emails being generated by the photo slide on my home page? (https://ibnmobilite.org) Just a thought.
In any case, I’ll let you know what happens with 3.0.3. And thanks!

In reply to: Image padding and border issues with WordPress 3.9I know that it doesn’t seem like it at times, but I want to reiterate that we DO ‘hear’ you all and I’m sorry if it feels like your voices haven’t been heard and listened to.
EMG, thank you for your thoughtful explanation.

In reply to: Image padding and border issues with WordPress 3.9It seems that most of the people who want to edit padding and borders on each image are fundamentally not grasping what @esmi is saying. This post explains the reasons more thoroughly: https://mor10.com/using-css-classes-fields-wordpress/
Excellent article — and responses. Thanks for sharing.

In reply to: Image padding and border issues with WordPress 3.9Not saying this is the most copacetic way to do this, but for those who are desperate to have quick access to borders and padding, you can,if you choose, drop into ‘text’ mode and add the style attribute directly into the img src tag. It’s almost faster to type this in than to use the old text-box-update routine.
Yes, that’s what I did. But I’ve since downloaded a plugin (Advanced Image Styles) to handle it in future. Time is what I don’t have a lot of, which is why having the function in visual editor was so cool. I haven’t used the plugin yet, but I’m hoping it lives up to its good reviews.

In reply to: Image padding and border issues with WordPress 3.9I was hoping it was just me overlooking something or maybe that the border / padding function had been relocated. But no, it’s gone. Sure, I eventually got the job done adding extra HTML for each image, but it took so much longer than it would have with previous versions of the image editor.
What’s up, WP? Of all the editing functions to eliminate, why THIS ONE?? It was so useful and such a time-saver. I won’t go back to the old WP version because there are vulnerability issues I don’t want to expose my sites to, but I am not happy with this added inconvenience. I thought my days of coding longhand were over.

In reply to: Themes that no longer get updatedI’m dealing with this issue right now. A few days ago, I took one of my sites offline, deciding it would be easier to just purchase a new theme and start over. The theme developer had abandoned his theme — nice one, too — and it finally just broke, unable to work properly with the new WP updates. I wish I had known about parent/child themes when I bought it, but that was a few years ago.
I know time marches on, and, as you point out, one can’t expect a developer to update a theme in perpetuity, but I do think it would be fair for them to commit to a period of time up front, say two years, when the buyer can be assured of periodic updates — like a warranty.
I’ve been shopping for a new theme and have never come across a developer who even mentioned the life expectancy of his/her theme. I wrote to one finalist and asked if his theme was “in the prime of its support life” and he responded honestly that he did not expect to be doing much updating to it in the future. So I’m still shopping.
I’m looking for new-ish themes, with a parent/child structure, by developers with a good support track record, in the hope that I can get a couple years out of it before I have to start over.
