In reply to: header imageI just now, finally, got a response from the Genesis folks. Apparently the “Header Image” is supposed to be a small logo and not span the page. Why someone would want a small logo in the middle of the page makes no sense to me. Here, FYI, is what Genesis support wrote me. The instructions about the theme doesn’t have this.
——————————————————————————
The header image is intended for displaying a small logo on the top of your site and not a full width image.
And although the upload size of the image is 600×160 pixels, the display size is 300×80 pixels. The upload size is 2x as large as the display size so that the image will appear crisp on a retina screen.
You can read more about it here: https://my.studiopress.com/documentation/genesis-sample-theme/customize-your-settings/header-image/
If you’d like to use a full width image in the site header, you’ll need to make several edits to the theme’s style.css file.
Unfortunately, we don’t have copy/paste code to provide you for this, as it is custom code that would need to be written and tested specifically for your site. Also, we generally do not give step by step instructions for theme customizations such as this: https://www.studiopress.com/what-support-includes.
However, I did find this tutorial that was written by a member of the Genesis community that might help you get started: https://wpbeaches.com/add-full-width-responsive-header-image/
You may want to post a thread in our Community Forums. It’s possible that another user has done something similar and would be willing to share their code with you: https://studiopress.com/forums
You could also check out the other community resources such as the Slack channel and Facebook group: https://my.studiopress.com/community/
If you wish to have someone assist you with the change, we have a list of recommended Genesis developers – just visit https://www.studiopress.com/genesis-developers for a list.
Please let us know if you have further questions and we will be happy to assist you.

In reply to: header imageI just now dropped the 304 down to 160, so I see how that works.
Is it true that I could add a much wider image, say 1200px instead of the now 600px and use more of the real estate? Really no need to have so much blank space on both sides of the image.
here is what it looks like right now: https://thegoldalliance.org/wp-admin/customize.php?autofocus%5Bsection%5D=custom_css&return=http%3A%2F%2Fthegoldalliance.org%2Fwp-admin%2FForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: header imageQuestion:
the image depth appears much deeper than the 160 px.
it takes up about half of the vertical space on my screen.
Any way to reduce that without truncating the image?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: header imageThis code was still there.
I just now deleted one of the blank lines between the /* and */ and the image appeared ok. That is, it appears to work now.
This is the code that I have:
/*
You can add your own CSS here.Click the help icon above to learn more.
*/.header-full-width .title-area {
max-width: 100%;
}.header-image .site-title > a {
background-size: contain !important;
min-height: 304px;
}So it appears that we are good.
This CSS stuff is a mystery to me.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: header imageAlas, the image went back to being a postage stamp. https://thegoldalliance.org/
Here is what the CSS looks like now:

*/.header-full-width .title-area {
max-width: 100%;
}.header-image .site-title > a {
background-size: contain !important;
min-height: 304px;
}Please note that the word “contain” shows in red. I don’t recall that before.

In reply to: header imageI just now saved the image from the post and looked at its details.
It appears to be in sync with the specs.
If it would be helpful, I could create a post with the image specs.
Shall I do that?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: header imagehere is a link to the image in its own post.

Can you tell if there is something wrong with it?
The Samples theme specs are 600×160, and I believe I have that correct.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: header imageThat did it.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Works fine.Although the image has the correct dimensions, it is not displaying as it shows in the media editor. It is truncated.
Any thoughts about that?
You are wonderful to have stayed with this.
I am very grateful.

In reply to: header imageIs it possible that there is something wrong with my jpeg?
Here is what the specs show in the media editor:File name: cropped-cropped-b2.jpg
File type: image/jpeg
Uploaded on: August 10, 2017
File size: 30 KB
Dimensions: 600 × 160The dimensions is what is called for in the Genesis Sample specs and when I attempt to upload the image.

In reply to: header imageIt still did not work.
Here is a copy of what I put in the customizing CSS box and then saved it, I just copied and pasted the code you sent to me:/*
You can add your own CSS here.
.header-full-width .title-area {
max-width: 100%;
}
.header-image .title-area {
max-width: 100%;
}
.header-image .site-title > a {
background-size: cover !important;
}Click the help icon above to learn more.
*/Am I not doing something that I should be doing, or am I doing something incorrectly?

In reply to: header imageHere is what I added to the customizing CSS and saved it. I then uploaded the image into the header area.
.header-full-width .title-area {
max-width: 100%;
}.header-image .site-title > a {
background-size: cover !important;
}This did not work, either. I am still looking at a postage stamp.
Any further ideas?
Again, I very much appreciate your help and your time.
Is there a way I can send you the image so you can test it at your end?

In reply to: header imageI did as you suggested and entered the code at the end of my CSS file, updated the CSS file, and then reloaded the the header.
No change, ie, it didn’t do the trick.
What I find very confusing is that I have the correct pixel dimensions as per the specs in the Genesis Sample theme: 600×160.
Here is what I get: https://thegoldalliance.org/
notice the little image at the top.
I very much appreciate your attempting to help me with this and for your time.
With Warm Regards,
LarryOK, I’ll try it again, but not with this table.
I spent about two hours attempting different iterations to see if I was doing something wrong. I even saved my Word file in HTML format to see if maybe there was something wrong with the text.
What really confused, and confuse, me is that everything showed fine in the WordPress post edit mode. After I published the post the line spacing changed, and, even worse, several words were broken up. It as if WordPress was attempting to hyphenate certain words without a hyphenation symbol
Perhaps you might check to see how TablePress handles extended text, e.g., more than one line, within a cell.
For your information, I am using the Genesis Sample Theme.
Question, while I’m at it.
After I create a table, is there a simple way to edit it? You probably have that, but I missed with.
I very much appreciate your having taken time to follow up with me.
With Warm Regards,
LarryThank you for taking the time to write.
Alas, I don’t know anything about CSS.
My workaround was to take an image capture from the word document, which works ok.
Tablepress is supposed to alleviate coding.
I have deleted it.
Thank you again for your reply.
I very much appreciate it.

In reply to: header imagethank you, but I am new at this and totally unfamiliar with CSS.
Can you give me a little more instruction about how to do this? A screen shot might do it.
I appreciate your help and your time.
Sincerely,
Larry
