I don’t have time to look at it right now, but it might be part of the solution that we are looking for.

I call it wp-people. I started it from the same b2 thread that you pointed to.

I had it working great in the my-hacks file. It still works about 90% in the new version as a plug-in. Also, you have to modify the menu file to add a link to the admin screen. I’ll try to get those additional instructions in there soon.
Also, there is another guy who is going to take my idea and expand it onto the profiles page. So, a person can update their profile with the extra wp-people fields so tha tthe will have a bio.

It fell off my radar of things to do.
We never got back a response from the guy who integrated WP and and phpBB. But, I went to his site back when he posted and saw that if you make a comment, it gets created in phpBB.

Your install page might help me get wp-people plugin working correctly.

I loaded 1.2.
Here’s this issue, they removed a couple of filters, so you will get an error right off. You can got to my forum and see where to fix the code.
Because of the removed filters and how they do the filters now, it looks like wp-people will have some missing functionlity in 1.2. I am working on getting it fixed. You can still use my-hacks in 1.2 and everything will be the same, if you make the small fix mentioned above.
EXCEPT! Now I have to figure out a different way to add a menu item for wp-people to the administration screen, because they removed the text file that used to do that.
So, I am working on a couple of things and will announce the update when it is ready.

I must have just missed just that file. Oh well, re uploaded it.

Can you put a few more names in your database and updated your test post with those names. Also, use full names, instead of first names.

Okay, I guess I should have asked about the “use my-hacks” flag.
First thing to check, make sure that the my-hacks page code is wrapped in the php tag <?php ?> .
So after the code for wp-people, make sure there is a closing ?>.
Also, make sure that there are no line returns or spaces before at the begining or end of the page.

What version on WP are you using and what other modifications have you done?

@sportbiker – Yeah, if you don’t have the my-hacks.php file, then none of the hacks will work.
@intrepide1 – No. I haven’t installed 1.2 on my site to test it out.
If someone else who is using 1.2 would like to test it out and let me know if there are any issues, I would appreciate it.
I also don’t know if I am going to turn it into a plug-in or not. I haven’t looked into the plug-in stuff.

I found the above when I was messing around with Flash Remoting with PHP. They haven’t worked on it in a while, but it might be close to the total solution.

When you entered yourself in the database, did you use your full name? Because the name you type in the blog has to be exactly like the name in the database (except case).

I would have to say that the biggest issue I have with blogs, beyond poor color schemes, is that when someone post when they have nothing to say, just to have a post for that day. I know that’s what blogs are for, but I would think they could just wait for when they have something creative or inspiring to type. Of course, that would probably mean that no blogs would be written. ??
How about a rule that if you don’t have more than a paragraph to put down, then don’t blog. I guess that rule would require that someone would know how to type a complete sentence.
I guess we should just live and let live.
And, I agree, that strike through visited link thing is highly annoying.
