In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] Need to close bookings over a period of timeIf my client wants to close bookings for her property over a certain period – for example for decorating – she simply makes a dummy booking of her own for that period.
The other thing you can do of course is to have an automated reply to any booking enquiry to say that all bookings must be considered provisional during the period until the client returns and can reply.

In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] One Calendar on two websitesIt’s possible to show a web page from one site also within a page on another site using iframe or object – see e.g. here for more: https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/embed-a-webpage-within-another-webpage/230037

In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] Option Children PersonI have a similar issue as the website I manage is for a dog-friendly property and the number of dogs needs to be known – so what I do is edit the ‘message’ label in advanced-booking-calendar/frontend/bookingform.php in the plug-in’s CSS to read “No. of persons & dogs & any other info”.
….. so you could make a similar change, bendopoli.
The only problem is that you have to make that change then every time the plug-in is updated.
Also, Jan, changing the language to English (UK) in both WordPress & the plug-in doesn’t change the ‘Zip Code’ label to “Post Code” in the booking form, and I have to edit that manually in the CSS too.
Accordingly, could I suggest you add both of those labels to the Text Customization page in the Settings section, please, Jan?

In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] Remove persons from booking formI would support this too, Jan, as the website I manage is also for a holiday cottage where the whole property is booked and the “Persons” input box is redundant when checking availability.
On the other hand, our booking form needs a “Persons” input box for information to check that the number of persons occupying the property does not exceed the maximum number permitted.
For this reason, I have changed the heading label of the “Message” box in the CSS to read “No. of persons & dogs & any other info” to get the information needed, but of course this change is not saved and has to be re-entered every time the plugin is updated.
It would thus be helpful to be able to alter the “Message” label to do this under Text Customization in Settings instead so this change is saved.
This is certainly the best plugin I have found for holiday places where the whole property has to be booked, and probably the most flexible booking calendar of all too – a lttle more tweaking will make it even better … thank you, Jan!
Thank you, Jan – that’s very useful information.
That wasn’t the only thing I changed in the booking form, however – you can see what the booking form I produced looks like here.
You don’t have to edit the code – you just change the labels under “Settings” in the Text Customization screen – you can see what I did here.
The only thing I had to change the code for was to alter the booking form field labels to what I wanted – we say “Post Code” and not “Zip Code” in the UK for example. That’s a pain as I have to redo it every time there is an update – if I could do that under “Settings” too it would really make me give this plugin 5+ stars!
I have the same situation, but have dealt with it by configuring the plugin for just one room and changing the label to “Select Property” – and there’s only a single option then to select the whole property.

In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] will this be possible?I had a similar situation with a website I’ve just built which you can see here.
The best thing I could do to deal with all the variables was to add extra text to tell people what they could or couldn’t do, plus a price list, a contact form, and a Saturday to Saturday calendar.
I think tooltips can be very useful too for adding in extra bits of information, and an access statement or a FAQ page is good too to tell people everything they can expect.

In reply to: [Advanced Booking Calendar] The best I could find! Thanks, I’ll email you!
I have used the User Role Editor plugin to address this issue.
What I did was to create a special role for the user concerned and then limit that role as to the abilities it had so that it could only perform certain tasks.
Whilst that did not limit the user concerned to only being able to see the Advanced Booking Calendar plugin, it did mean that their abilities were then limited to a degree I was reasonably happy with – for example, they are not able to edit or delete anybody else’s pages or posts or to add or delete plugins.
I agree, however, that it would be better to have a special role that could be allotted to enable users to manage the Advanced Booking Calendar plugin and nothing else.
