In reply to: why not host forum on phpBB?Oh right, I forbot about vBulletin too. It would be nice to have avatars and be able to subscribe to a thread or a forum via email as well as a general chat. It’s all the other little things that could help build a community. Not to say that WP isn’t a community but there can always be more.

In reply to: htaccess file for 2 blogs on one domainHmmm…I checked that but there is no htaccess file in my blog root directory. I made sure that my FTP client revealed all hidden files but still no file. Should I just make another htaccess file for the blog root directory?

In reply to: a page as the main pageKaf,
the only problem with that solution [and i just did it] is that the homepage now has the “read more” permalink at the bottom of it. so it still makes it look like a blog entry of sorts.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: getting a page errorMoshu,
When you asked about whether files were writable, that made me realize that I had to alter the .htaccess and index.php files to 666. That fixed the problem.I don’t mean to be laconic about this stuff, but I am trying my best as I realize folks like you are here quite often trying to help folks like me for free, no less.
Thank you for your patience.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: fantastico and 5 minute installyeah, i just noticed that my cpanel and my hosting company, A Small Orange, just upgraded to WP2.0 now. So now, even future sites that I host on WP, I won’t have to go through the tedious process of manually installing and uploading the files because my hosting was on 1.5

In reply to: my site’s gone haywire on meI decided to delete certain plugins from the FTP and it still doesn’t work.
by the way, a couple days ago I had some issues whereby my site would automatically switch to some other theme as well w/o my approval. I had to go back in and switch back to the theme I originally had.
Perhaps these are symptoms of something bigger?
